Mental health professionals face elevated risks of professional impairment driven by systemic burnout, secondary traumatic stress, and compassion fatigue. Although the need to emphasize client care often leads clinicians to neglect their own psychological equilibrium, traditional self-care approaches frequently fail to address the physiological and non-verbal mechanisms of occupational stress. To close this gap, The Creative Wellness Plan features a manualized, three- phase art therapy resource guide grounded in Person-Centered Expressive Arts Therapy (PCEAT) and the Expressive Therapies Continuum (ETC). Designed as a hybrid self-directed and peer-led curriculum, this system guides clinicians through consecutive phases of biological grounding, guided emotional processing, and ethical self-care integration using varied art media. While individual creative interventions cannot resolve underlying organizational burdens such as high caseloads or systemic underfunding, integrating structured, expressive micro-interventions within daily practice provides practitioners with a key tool for nervous system regulation and psychological detachment. Ultimately, this curriculum frames self-care as an ethical necessity, equipping mental health professionals with useful resources to reduce burnout, protect therapeutic presence, and encourage long-term career viability.
