Abstract
This research paper, fueled by heuristic inquiry, serves to support the theory that art therapy can and does affect the body and mind in positive ways. The subject experienced negative responses to trauma from a series of negative life events over a relatively short period. After employing various methods of art therapy experientials, positive emotional and physical responses occurred. The neuroscientific reasons why and how processes in the brain can be affected by the act of creating art are discussed. Additionally, the question of whether an art therapist has an ethical responsibility to maintain their wellness is considered.
