McLaughlin has had Ms team wor~ing out for
,a gainst the strong Temple Universitty ,team, Decemlber 3, at Philadelphia. The Huskies, who have been
working hard, ,s hould ,be ready to battle the Temple
Owls on more even terms than !in the past.
Returning 1-ettermen include: John Biggs, Don
Beaulieu, Fred Bausch, Walt Fischl, and J,jm Poechmann. Free styler John Biggs rep,r esented B.IS.C.
in i!Jhe N.A .I.A. meet last spring at Oonway, Arkansas.
He turned in •a commendalble performance in both
the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events. Moving up
from last ye,a r's undefeaited freshman ·t eam a.re
Wtilliam Hitchings, Bruce Bendel, Tim Oarr, Ed McN'e1,tney, J'im RJi:sser, ,a nd Mike Zukov:ich. A newcomer to the squad is sophomore Tom Hous·ton.
These twelve swimmers will be expected to carry
·,the loa-d this year for the Maroon and Go'1d. Coach
McLaughlin s,tates, "We will lack the depth to have
a great ,t eam, but we do have bebter balance and
more st,reng, tih ·than we have had in the past. Every
man will have to perform in several events this
yeaa·."
As 'in the pa;s,t two years, freshmen will not be
used on the v,a rsity but will hiave eight separtalte
meebs. They have been training with the varsity
daily and have displayed the spirtt ,a nd enthustasm
1that could spell anoither undefeated se•a son for the
Husky Pups.
Although McLaughlin feels ,tna;t B.6.C.'s s1wimming teams are improving, he also points out the
other teams in t.he P .S.C.A.C. are gaining in strength.
The Hl\ls~ies face priactically the same opponenrts as
last year and McIJaughlin and the squa;d ,a re look•ing
lforward t,o an interes1bing and very competitive year
in swiimming.
