EDINBORO UNIVERSITY TRUSTEES REAPPOINTED
Five members of the Edinboro University Council of Trustees have been reappointed by
Gov. Tom Ridge and confirmed by the state Senate to continuing terms as trustees of the
University.
Reappointed to another six-year term was Harry K. Thomas, Esq., a 1963 Edinboro
graduate and a partner in the Erie law firm of Knox Graham McLaughlin Gomall and Sennett.
An Edinboro trustee since 1983, Thomas is currently serving his second term as Council
chairperson.
Also reappointed was Meadville native Benedict J. Miceli, who has been an Edinboro
trustee since 1995. Retiring in 1999 as a longtime Meadville business owner and operator, he
remains active as community leader and volunteer throughout Crawford County.
Mrs. Patricia Barber Heasley, a 1962 Edinboro education alumna, has been a trustee since
1988 and currently teaches at Glenwood Elementary School in the School District of the City of
Erie. Over the last five decades, 16 members of her family have attended Edinboro: among them
her aunt, the late Dr. Gertrude A. Barber, and her father, John Barber, who quarterbacked the
Edinboro football team at the 1927 homecoming game.
John E. Horan, who was appointed last year to fill a vacancy on the Council, is the
executive director and secretary of the Housing Authority of the City of Erie, a position he has
held since 1977. He is currently chairing a planning committee for a September 21 reunion gala
honoring the late Erie Mayor Lou Tullio and raising funds for a scholarship in Tullio’s memory.
