Celebrity Artist Series
I^HHHIili^^Hi^^i^^^HBHi

Whether you wanted to "shake your groove thing" or be entertained in a more serene
fashion, Bloomsburg University's Celebrity Artist Series' 25th Anniversary Season
had something for you!
Turning 25 this year, the Celebrity Artist Series had a season of retro sounds, firsttime performances and sparkling artistry. Reliving the 20th century's disco, rock and
jazz. Enjoying a Celtic Christmas and the brassy sounds of New Orleans right before
Mardi Gras. Thrill to live theatre and dazzling contemporary dance.
All this in two classy, comfortable venues at Bloomsburg University: Mitrani Hall

newly renovated Haas Center for the Arts and Kenneth S. Gross Auditorium in
the landmark Carver Hall, listed among the League of Historic American Theatres.

On April 4th and 5th, a delegation from Bloomsburg University attended the
PASSHE Advocacy Days at the state capitol in Harrisburg. Among the group
and President Soltz. Attendees spent two days
meeting with state representatives, senators, and legislative staff about the State
System. Governor Corbett's proposed budget cuts in higher education have
shaken leaders across the board. PASSHE upholds its mission across the
fourteen universities in offering a quality higher education at the most affordable
cost among all four-year institutions in the Commonwealth. The purpose of the
two-day visit was to spread this message and educate the legislation about the
vast opportunities, benefits, and significance PASSHE brings to Pennsylvania.
Bloomsburg delegates joined representatives from each of the fourteen
universities, the university presidents, Chancellor Cavanaugh, and his staff in
meeting with Representatives George, Hanna, and Reed and Senators White and
Gordner. They attended educational sessions in preparation for their meetings
and helped PASSHE make a professional presence in Harrisburg!
