head soccer coach. This action
resulted from the November 24
resignation of William Sproule, who
served as head football coach from
1971 through 1975. Sproule will
remain on the Health and Physical
Education Department staff.
Puhl has been head track coach at
the college for the past nine years and

through 1967 and under Jerry
Denstorff from 1968 th(ough 1970. His
track teams since 1970 have established an overall record of 76 wins and

1976 Outlook
New head coach Ron Puhl hopes to
start turning the fortunes of the
Huskies around as there hasn't been a
winning season at BSC since 1970. He
will have his work cut out as in 1975
the Huskies were 1-8 and in 1974,
10
The bright spot is that Puhl has a
solid aggregation returning . He only
loses three of last year's forty-eight
lettermen through graduation. Key
returnee is defensive back Lou
Sannutti, who was named to the
All-Pennsylvania Conference first team
and honorable mention on the
AII-ECAC squad. Wide receiver Tom
Brennan, who led the team in the four
categories of receiving, kickoff returns, punt returns, and scoring, can
look forward to another good year
along with another wide receiver Barry
Staton who was right behind Brennan
in the four above categories . Halfback
John McCauley and linebacker Dave
Hower will also play key roles.
Since Puhl has been involved in
completing his last year as head track
coach, a position he has ~eld for the
past ten years, he has had limited time
for recruiting and it may take more
than a year to turn things around
appreciably. He previously served as
assistant football coach at BSC from
1966-1970 and was particularly effective with the defensive backfield unit.
He plans a complete regrouping of all
football aspects at the college
including a renewal of the alumni
interest. He aims to instill a winning
spirit into the team members that was
evident in his successful track teams.
Six of the eight conference
opponents are with Bloomsburg in the
eastern division of the Pennsylvania
Conference with the other two
competing in the western division.
Wilkes College will be the only
non-conference opposition.

Ms. Eleanor Wray
"I'
Ms. Eleanor
Wray, tennis coach,
joined the HPE
staff at BSC in
1957 and assumed
the duties of women's intramural director, B club and
water ballet advisor. About 1962 she
helped initiate and
organize women's
field hockey and basketbal I varsity
sports and assumed the duties of
coaching field hockey. With the
inception in 1972 of swimming and
tennis varsity sports, Ms. Wray
assumed the duties of coordinator of
women's intercollegiateathletics along
with coaching tennis.
Formerly from Pittsburgh, Pa., she
earned her B.A. degree from Lake Erie
College majoring in sociology and
health and physical education. While
at L.E.C., she played field hockey and
basketball and had tennis instruction
under Mary K. Browne, a former
Wimbledon Doubles and National
Singles Champion. Ms. Wray has
participated in tournaments in western
Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. Her
M.S. degree was earned at Penn State
and additional credits at the University
of Pittsburgh.
1976 Outlook
Nineteen freshmen candidates,
along with five returning veterans, give
Coach Eleanor Wray prospects for one
of her best teams since women's
tennis became a varsity sport in 1972.
The only player lost from last_year's
team that compiled a 6-7 record is
Anne McMunn, Williamsport, the
number one player. The five top
returnees are Debbie Sabatelli, Williamstown, N.J., Debbie Young, Glen
Mills, Sue Purnell, Lewisburg, Laura
Stoneback, Quakertown, and Amy
Westcott, Newark, Delaware.
Cathy Hornish, Eynon, Kelly Knarr,
Muncy, Laurie R:eating, Montvale,
N .J., and Cheryl Janiec, West
Chester, are four of the freshmen
candidates who have been called to
the attention of Coach Wray by
knowledgeable followers of the game.
The large contingent of first-year
c_andidates and the calibre of
competition the Huskiettes have been
facing indicate women's tennis has
come a long way in four years. This
past spring, five BSC players
participated in the Pennsylvania State
College Women's Tennis Competition
with one df the doubles team reaching
the quarter-finals. Overall since 1972,
the netwomen have won 17 matches,
lost 21, and tied one due to inclement
weather.

resulted from the November 24
resignation of William Sproule, who
served as head football coach from
1971 through 1975. Sproule will
remain on the Health and Physical
Education Department staff.
Puhl has been head track coach at
the college for the past nine years and

previously served as assistant football
coach under Russ Houk from 1966
through 1967 and under Jerry
Denstorff from 1968 th(ough 1970. His
track teams since 1970 have established an overall record of 76 wins and
8 losses while his 1975 cross country
team posted an 8-3 mark. He will
continue to serve as head track coach
for the coming season.
A native of Pottstown, Pennsyl-
vania, Puhl was a three letter winner in
football, swimming, and track and

coach for several years. He was named
to the NAIA "Little All-American
Team" in 1960 for football and was a
Pennsylvania State College Champion

1976 Outlook
New head coach Ron Puhl hopes to
start turning the fortunes of the
Huskies around as there hasn't been a
winning season at BSC since 1970. He
will have his work cut out as in 1975
the Huskies were 1-8 and in 1974,
10
The bright spot is that Puhl has a
solid aggregation returning . He only
loses three of last year's forty-eight
lettermen through graduation. Key
returnee is defensive back Lou
Sannutti, who was named to the
All-Pennsylvania Conference first team
and honorable mention on the
AII-ECAC squad. Wide receiver Tom
Brennan, who led the team in the four
categories of receiving, kickoff returns, punt returns, and scoring, can
look forward to another good year
along with another wide receiver Barry
Staton who was right behind Brennan
in the four above categories . Halfback
John McCauley and linebacker Dave
Hower will also play key roles.
Since Puhl has been involved in
completing his last year as head track
coach, a position he has ~eld for the
past ten years, he has had limited time
for recruiting and it may take more
than a year to turn things around
appreciably. He previously served as
assistant football coach at BSC from
1966-1970 and was particularly effective with the defensive backfield unit.
He plans a complete regrouping of all
football aspects at the college
including a renewal of the alumni
interest. He aims to instill a winning
spirit into the team members that was
evident in his successful track teams.
Six of the eight conference
opponents are with Bloomsburg in the
eastern division of the Pennsylvania
Conference with the other two
competing in the western division.
Wilkes College will be the only
non-conference opposition.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
Ms. Eleanor Wray
"I'
Ms. Eleanor
Wray, tennis coach,
joined the HPE
staff at BSC in
1957 and assumed
the duties of women's intramural director, B club and
water ballet advisor. About 1962 she
helped initiate and
organize women's
field hockey and basketbal I varsity
sports and assumed the duties of
coaching field hockey. With the
inception in 1972 of swimming and
tennis varsity sports, Ms. Wray
assumed the duties of coordinator of
women's intercollegiateathletics along
with coaching tennis.
Formerly from Pittsburgh, Pa., she
earned her B.A. degree from Lake Erie
College majoring in sociology and
health and physical education. While
at L.E.C., she played field hockey and
basketball and had tennis instruction
under Mary K. Browne, a former
Wimbledon Doubles and National
Singles Champion. Ms. Wray has
participated in tournaments in western
Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. Her
M.S. degree was earned at Penn State
and additional credits at the University
of Pittsburgh.
1976 Outlook
Nineteen freshmen candidates,
along with five returning veterans, give
Coach Eleanor Wray prospects for one
of her best teams since women's
tennis became a varsity sport in 1972.
The only player lost from last_year's
team that compiled a 6-7 record is
Anne McMunn, Williamsport, the
number one player. The five top
returnees are Debbie Sabatelli, Williamstown, N.J., Debbie Young, Glen
Mills, Sue Purnell, Lewisburg, Laura
Stoneback, Quakertown, and Amy
Westcott, Newark, Delaware.
Cathy Hornish, Eynon, Kelly Knarr,
Muncy, Laurie R:eating, Montvale,
N .J., and Cheryl Janiec, West
Chester, are four of the freshmen
candidates who have been called to
the attention of Coach Wray by
knowledgeable followers of the game.
The large contingent of first-year
c_andidates and the calibre of
competition the Huskiettes have been
facing indicate women's tennis has
come a long way in four years. This
past spring, five BSC players
participated in the Pennsylvania State
College Women's Tennis Competition
with one df the doubles team reaching
the quarter-finals. Overall since 1972,
the netwomen have won 17 matches,
lost 21, and tied one due to inclement
weather.
