Description Long

A self portrait of artist Edgar Degas done in drypoint etching.

This particular piece is incredibly rare, much like the rest of Edgar Degas' etched pieces. 11 proofs from four states of this print were done before the cancellation of this plate.

The plate impression was published by Ambroise Vollard, a notable French contemporary art dealer famous for his discovery of the artist Paul Cézanne and his works, along with multiple other notable artists including Edgar Degas.

This edition is from a series of 150 cancelled plate impressions of the self portrait, published by Vollard after Degas death.
