Transcript:Â Washington, D.C. September 16, 1918. Dr. D.J. Waller, Principal of State Normal School, Bloomsburg, Pa. Dear Dr. Waller: I am a graduate of the Class of 1917. I have enlisted in the Navy as Yeoman, and I am stationed at the present time in Washington, D.C. An examination for Assistant Paymaster will be held the first part of next month, I would like to take this examination, and as several recommendations are required I would appreciate it very much if you would send me a recommendation as to my character, ability, etc. I remain yours very respectfully, Walter L.
