Margaret Hodder (mother of John Hodder) to Bloomsburg State Normal School Registrar (F. H. Jenkins), March 12, 1919, Letter.
Item Description
Transcript: Wilkes-Barre, March 12, 1919. Mr. F. H. Jenkins, Bloomsburg State Normal School, Dear Sir: Having heard thru Mrs. Gimbel of your calling at our home today decided to take the liberty of writing you to tell that we regret very much that none of John’s family were at home to meet you. Your kind interest in my son, while at school and at home, shall never be forgotten. John’s death has been a terrible blow to us and we sometimes wonder if he is not with us still, surely this wonderful boy’s soul hovers near us and knows all. We are very grateful for the testimonials of sympathy expressed by so many Normal School people and surely feel that my dear boy was thought well of by the folks at your institution. I know he was very happy while among you and I rejoice in the fact that in his short life there were the years at Bloomsburg Normal School. We are very sorry to have missed you as I would like very much to know more of John’s life at Bloomsburg than he, who was never talkative, disclosed to us and sincerely hope that you will find it convenient in the near future to call again. After April first my address will be 101 Charles Street Mallery Place bus from the square! Sincerely yours, Margaret Hodder.
