Amos Gruber (father of Harry Gruber) to Bloomsburg State Normal School Registrar (F. H. Jenkins), December 19, 1918, Letter.
Item Description
Transcript: Bloomsburg, Pa., R. #4. December 19, 1918. Mr. F. H. Jenkins, Bloomsburg, Pa. Dear Sir: In the quarterly of the State Normal School of Bloomsburg recently received there appeared the names of many former students who are or have been in the great European struggle for the cause of humanity. Mr. Harry Gruber, a member of the 1915 graduating class, entered the service of our government June 15, 1918 as an automobile mechanic during an induction call for service. He went over to France safely and was there for some time previous to the signing of the armistice and is still there in service at the present time. Knowing you will appreciate this information in compiling your list of former students who served in the recent war, I am glad to have the privilege of informing you. I thought perhaps you knew it but as his name did not appear on the list, I knew the information was wanting. Other information will be cheerfully given if desired. I am, Respectfully yours, Amos B. Gruber.
