Transcript: Recd. Aug. 7- Answered Aug 8, 1918. August 1, 1918. My dear Dr. Waller, I am writing to ask you if you will be so kind as to mail me a recommendation which I desire to file with my application for entrance to the Officers Training School. I am now attending the Pharmacist’s mate's school at the operating base here while my ship goes over. It is a months course and we miss a trip across. The classes are of one hour duration from 8-4 with any hour for dinner and our principal subjects are Materia Medica, Pharmacy and Bacteriology with a thorough course in clerical work and forms as it applies to the Medical Department. I have only met one former student going across as a soldier so far, his name was Fritz and if I remember correctly he told me he graduated from Bloomsburg in 1907. Very truly yours, Percy W. Griffiths S. Pharmacist’s Mates School. Naval Operating Base, Hampton Roads, Va. Percy Griffiths
