Item Description
Transcript: Acknowledge. S.M.A., Austin, Texas. March 18, 1918. Dear Dr. Waller, I suppose you will be glad to know that I have finished my course here at S.M.A. Now I am ready for my flying course. We leave here on Friday morning to the concentration camp at Dallas, Texas. I suppose we will be there about two or three weeks before we get to the flying field. It certainly was a hard course especially the last three weeks. Waiting for the final decision is like waiting for the decision of State Board. I was certainly glad when I heard my name. Idwal Edwards ’14 is here now. He has been here for three weeks. I certainly was surprised to see him here. How is everything at Normal? I’m hoping to get back to see it before school is out if it is any way possible. We are having swell weather here. Just like a Northern June day. It has been 84 degrees in the shade already this spring and it certainly made us sweat. Is there much snow up around Penna. yet? Give my regards the faculty and hoping that I may take a “flying” trip back to Normal soon. I am Respectfully yours, Hugh E. Boyle ‘17. My new address will be: Dick Field, Fair Grounds, Dallas, Texas.
