Benjamin Bane Baer was born on May 23, 1896 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He was a student at the Bloomsburg State Normal School from 1914 until his graduation in 1916. Baer served in the 155th Depot Brigade in Camp Lee, VA at the Base Hospital. He became a teacher in Black Creek Township, Nuremberg, PA. Baer died on August 4, 1980 in Manatee, FL.
Jacob Joseph Becker was born on August 27, 1892 in Taylor, PA. He was a student at the Bloomsburg State Normal School from 1908 until his graduation in 1911 and later served as a supervising principal in Montana. Becker was in Company E. 34th Engineers, American Expeditionary Forces. Following the war he earned a law degree and for many years was a law professor at Loyola University of Los Angeles. Becker died on April 19, 1971 in Ventura County, CA.
Charles Merril Boust was born on July 24, 1891 in Shamokin Dam, PA. He was a student at the Bloomsburg State Normal School from 1908 until his graduation in 1911. Boust served in the 55th Depot Brigade in Camp Lee, VA. Following the war he taught in Selinsgrove, PA and later became a cashier at the First National Bank in Sunbury, PA. He died on April 21, 1948 in Sunbury.
Hugh Edward Boyle was born on December 15, 1895 in Leviston, PA. He was a student at the Bloomsburg State Normal School from 1912 until his graduation in 1917. Boyle became a teacher for the Hazleton City School District in Hazleton, PA. He died on March 23, 1971 in Hazleton.
Jay Frank Brink was born on August 5, 1892 in Grand Junction, CO, after which his family moved to Benton, PA. He was a student at the Bloomsburg State Normal School from 1915 until his graduation in 1917. After graduating, Brink attended the Commissioned Officer Training School in Camp Lee, VA. Following the war he was a teacher in Bloomsburg and died there on August 8, 1972.
Herman Joseph Cappello was born on September 5, 1894 in Silver Brook, PA. He was a student at the Bloomsburg State Normal School from 1914-1915. Cappello enlisted in the National Guard in 1916 and during the war served in the 108th Machine Gun Battalion in the 28th Infantry Division. He reached the rank of Private, 1st Class and was severely wounded on August 13, 1918. Following the war, Cappello married Rachel Creasy and died in New York on June 26, 1957. - Harold Ohl Creasy was born on March 25, 1893 in Cabin Run, PA. He was a student at the Bloomsburg State Normal School from 1911-1912. Creasy served in Battery D of the 11th Field Artillery Battalion in France. After the war, he worked for the A.C. & F. Company in Berwick, PA. Creasy died on November 8, 1966 in Fallowfield, PA. - Clark Harvey Yeager was born November 16, 1886 in Plymouth, PA. He was a student at the Bloomsburg State Normal School from 1904 until his graduation in 1907. Yeager went on to become a doctor, graduating from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School and Johns Hopkins University. During the war, he served as a major in the United States Army Medical Corps. Yeager had a long career in medicine, including working 23 years for the Rockefeller Foundation, and died on November 29, 1976 in Sarasota, FL.
Harold Nelson Cool was born on June 9, 1894 in New York City, NY, after which his family moved to Pottsville, PA. He was a student at the Bloomsburg State Normal School from 1910 until his graduation in 1912. Cool served in Ambulance Company 346 in France. After the war, he became a pharmacist in New Jersey and then in Los Angeles, where he died on August 24, 1970 in Culver City, CA.
Foster Cleveland Crouse was born on February 1, 1893 in Rock Glen, PA. He was a student at the Bloomsburg State Normal School from 1911-1912. Crouse was a physics and chemistry teacher in Berwick until he began teaching at Edgewood High School in Pittsburgh, PA. He died on September 1, 1985 in Broomfied, CO.
John Gouger Feinor was born March 24, 1896 in Danville, PA. He was a student at the Bloomsburg State Normal School from 1913-1915, where one of his extracurricular activities was football. Feinour later went into business, serving as a bookkeeper and working for an insurance company. He died on June 10, 1956 in Harrisburg, PA.
Ralph Daniel Fry was born on November 24, 1895 in Grovania, PA. He was a student at the Bloomsburg State Normal School from 1915-1917. Fry was a farmer before becoming a mechanic and owning his own service station in Bloomsburg. He died on December 6, 1950 in Mahoning, PA.
Percy Wilfred Griffiths was born on March 30, 1893 in Taylor, PA. He was a student at the Bloomsburg State Normal School from 1913 until his graduation in 1916. After the war, Griffiths attended Pennsylvania State University where he graduated in 1921. He then attended Columbia University in New York and graduated in 1930. Griffiths held athletic coaching positions in several colleges and engaged as an automobiles salesman in Marietta, Ohio. He later became a Republican representative from Ohio in the United States Congress from 1943-1949. Griffiths died on June 12, 1983 in Clearwater, FL.
Harry Gruber was born on March 18, 1895 in Bloomsburg, PA. He was a student at the Bloomsburg State Normal School from 1912 until his graduation in 1915. Gruber served in Motor Truck Company 550 and then with Motor Supply Train #428. After the war, he worked for the Reading Railway Company in Hershey, PA as a clerk. Gruber died on November 14, 1961 in Harrisburg, PA.
John Henry Hodder was born on March 27, 1892 in Nanticoke, PA. He was a student at the Bloomsburg State Normal School from 1915 until leaving on November 3, 1917, to join the service. Hodder became a Machinist's Mate Second Class in the Navy during the war. He died from pneumonia on February 27, 1919 and is remembered in the World War I Memorial Pinery.
George Hague Howard was born on February 3, 1894 in Philadelphia, PA. He was a student in the model school at the Bloomsburg State Normal School from 1907-1908. Howard was in the 326 Infantry in the Allied Expeditionary Forces where he fought in Lorraine, Meuse-Argonne, and St. Michael. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for Heroism on October 16, 1918. After the war, Howard worked as a bookkeeper in Jenkintown and later as an accountant. He died on May 4, 1921, in Philadelphia.
Walter Leo Joyce was born on July 5, 1897 in Pittston, PA. He was a student at the Bloomsburg State Normal School from 1913 until his graduation in 1917. During the war, Joyce served at the Washington Navy Yard on active duty until 1919, reaching the rank of Yeoman 1st Class. He later worked as a tax claims adjuster. Joyce died on February 9, 1970 in Maryland.
Aldus Emerson Kegerreis was born on January 8, 1889 in Lancaster, PA. He graduated from Millersville State Normal School in 1908 and attained a Bachelor's degree from Franklin and Marshall College. Kegerreis taught arthmetic and algebra and served as manager of the football team at the Bloomsburg State Normal School from 1915-1917. He was in Ambulance Company 3 in the National Guard, then during the war in Ambulance Company 111, Sanitary Train 103. Following the war Kegerreis became a doctor of osteopathy. He died in July 1972 in Lancaster County, PA.
