1949-02-11 Counterattack

  Because most Americans underestimate the centrality of violence and revolution to the program of the American Communist Party, Counterattack republishes portions of the William Z. Foster's book, Toward Soviet America.  The strength of the Soviet spy ring in the Soviet Union is discussed, as well as the fear that some of those former spies are now involved in U.S. communist fronts.  The brutality of Soviet torture techniques is related, because of the treatment of Cardinal Mindszenty.  The newsletter also recounts the actions of the American Legion against subversive communism, denounces the acting Mayor of San Francisco for receiving the "Red Dean," and discusses new communist fronts.
