Clarion University Student Senate
Meeting Minutes
January 29, 2018
I.
Call to Order
President Welsh called the meeting of the spring semester of the Clarion University Student
Senate to order at 7:30 PM.
II.
Roll Call
Absent: Senator Zuzzio
III.
Additions to the Agenda
Senator Boyle 1 under new business
Treasurer McCann- 1 under new business
IV.
Approval of the Minutes
The minutes were approved as distributed.
V.
Officers Report
A. Adviser’s Report- Mr. Shaffer
Campus Labs sent out an email regarding a program survey. Please take the survey so
that the university has feedback about effective programs across campus.
B. Director’s/Board of Director’s Report- Ms. Machokas
No report.
C. President’s Report- President Welsh
Bookstore money is being allocated to Student Success Center. Students in need may
apply for the money, and the applications will be managed through Student Senate.
Thank you for taking Student Senate surveys. We are going to use the feedback to
better improve overall presence on campus, as well as increase voters during elections.
Conduct board trainings will held on February 14th from 11:00-12:00 February 15th
11:00-12:00 in 250 Gemmell for those who have never gone through a conduct board
before. Case study analysis training will be held on February 21st and February 22nd from
1:00-2:30 in 250 Gemmell. If you are interested in participating in conduct boards,
please contact the Judicial Coordinator, Tyler Kitzmiller.
Thank you to those who helped with Admitted Students’ day.

Student Trustee applications are due February 7, 2018 at 5:00 PM. Applicants must have
3 letters of recommendation and resume along with the applications. The link can be

in the next system Chancellor, particularly in areas of unity among States system and
addressing fiscal concerns facing state system. Look over the link for additional

Senator Coleman Milligan resigned from Student Senate this week.

Faculty Senate Report- Senator Skunda
Faculty Senate had their first meeting today. A representative from counseling services
spoke to Faculty Senate. They are also going to be reviewing their constitution.

Presidential Search Committee- Secretary Shepherd
The Clarion University Presidential Search Committee has announced that, after weeks
of reviewing applications for the presidency at Clarion University, the Search Committee
has completed the initial review of files and a select group of candidates has been
invited to in-person interviews at an off-site location later this month. On-campus
interviews are expected to take place March 1 – 9, 2018. Additional details will be
shared with the campus community as they become available.

No committee meeting tonight.
B. Student Relations Committee- Senator Klanica
WINGO is Friday February 23rd. It is a mandatory event for all Student Senators. It
begins at 8:00 PM, and you must wear blue shirt.
C. Academic Affairs Committee- Senator Skunda
No Report.
D. Rules and Regulations Committee- VP Henderson
No report.
E. Student Facilities Committee- Senator Bolha
No report.
F. Campus Safety, Health, and Environmental Concerns Committee- Senator Porter
No report.
G. Community Relations Committee- Senator Claypool
The first Come Together Clarion meeting is on Monday February 5th at 8 in Gemmell.
H. Website Management Committee- Senator Custer
No report.

New Business
Senator Boyle moves to be excused from Student Senate meeting on March 26th, 2018. She will
be in New York for the Model United Nations Conference. Motion carries with no abstentions.
Treasurer McCann moves to be excused from Commencement on December 16th 2017. She had
to work. Motion carries with no abstentions.
