Clarion Recycling Club (CRC)
BYLAWS
ARTICLE 1. – NAME
The name of this organization shall be the Clarion Recycling Club (CRC)
ARTICLE 2. – PURPOSE
The main purpose of the club is to promote recycling habits and create awareness for
sustainability in the Clarion Area.
We are forming this organization to promote recycling habits and awareness for sustainability
in the Clarion Area. The benefit of the club is to help create recycling programs and activities for
Clarion area schools, university, and community.
Some of our ideas for the club are awareness projects on why recycling matters, reducing
plastic and food waste within the university dining and dorms, community projects to involve
the neighboring school districts and try to integrate sustainable habits and practices.
The organization will consist of Clarion University students and try to branch out to the
community members and schools to work together on the goals.
ARTICLE 3. – MEMBERSHIP
Section 1. The qualifications of joining the “Clarion Recycling Club” are at least a grade point
average of 2.0 and must attend at least 50% of the meetings in a semester. Member should be
interested in talking to the clarion community including schools and university students about
events and memberships. It is not mandatory to be a Clarion University student to be a member
of this club.
Section 2. There will be no membership fee due for this club.
Section 3. Members who do not attend at least four meetings and/or program in the course of
a semester or members whose GPA drop below the required level of 2.0 will automatically lose
their membership from this club.
ARTICLE 4. – DUTIES AND ELECTIONS OF THE OFFICERS
Section 1.
President- call, preside meetings
Vice president- help lead events, step in place of president when needed
Secretary- take minutes during meetings
Treasure- keeps track of the funds
Community service chair- in charge of reaching out to the community
Section 2.
We will elect each position in the last meeting of the academic year. Current
president will call open election, elections will go in order from president down. If there is a tie
president or the faculty advisor is the tie breaker. Elections will be held in normal meeting
location.
Section 3. For the sake of a fair election majority vote will always be the deciding factor in
determining a winner of an election.
ARTICLE 5.- ROLE OF FACULTY/CAMPUS ADVISOR
Section 1.
Advisor was chosen based on expertise, merit, and involvement. The advisor’s
role is to advise, guide and help.
Section 2.
The amount of power that the advisor gets is to serve as a mentor and to serve
as a veto in the event of ties.
ARTICLE 6. – MEETINGS
Section 1.
Meetings will be held bi-weekly during the semester. They can be held virtually
or in person depending on the individuals desires.
Section 2.
At least four active members must be present for it to be considered a meeting.
Section 3.
At least half of the attendees of the meeting must agree to call it a decision.
Section 4.
Have an agenda for the meeting, president opens the meeting, go over agenda,
invite members or audiences to speak; close the meeting.
Section 5.
Special meetings: President calls them; at least a days’ notice must be given;
does not need to be voted upon; members will be notified through email.
ARTICLE 7. – FINANCES AND FUNDING
Section 1.
Dues will not be required.
Section 2.
Funds will be requested from Student Senate.
Section 3.
This club will be self-supporting by fundraising activities.
ARTICLE 8. – AMENDING, SUSPENDING, AND ACCETPING.
Bylaws can be changed if ½ of the executive members (or officers) votes to change any part of
them.
All changes to the Bylaws must be approved by the Student Senate, the Vice President of
Student Affairs, and the President of Clarion University.
ARTICLE 9. RATIFICATION.
These Bylaws, and its amendments, shall become effective upon ratification by the members of
Clarion Recycling Club and following the approval of the Student Senate of Clarion University of
Pennsylvania, the Vice President for Student & University affairs, and the President of Clarion
University.
