Clarion University Disc Golf Club Bylaws
Article 1 - Name
The name of this organization shall be The Clarion University Disc Golf Club (CUDGC).

Article 2 - Purpose
The CUDGC will give Clarion University students the ability to play disc golf as a college team.
Team disc golf has never been available before to Clarion students and with the formation of this
club we hope to compete with neighboring school’s teams as well as in national tournaments.
Disc Golf is a very easy to pick up sport that nearly anyone learn to play. Our club welcomes
current disc golf players as well as newcomers interested in the sport. Team disc golf balances
personal performance with team play. Our goal is to not only improve one’s own skills, but also
improve their ability to be a part of a team. The sport is a great stress reliever since most courses
are located in scenic outdoor settings, it is a non-contact sport, and the player ultimately
determines the pace of the game.
CUDGC’s purpose is to provide a fun recreational sport to Clarion students to help ease stress
and to help keep its members in good physical condition.

Article 4 - Duties and Elections of the Officers

meeting topics and is responsible for creating a schedule of disc golf tournaments. Can exercise a
casting vote to resolve ties in votes.
Vice President – Assists President and is given their role in case of an absence from a meeting.
Assists with creation of the club’s schedule. Is responsible for communication and public
relations between the club and the university for events.
Treasurer – Manages the club’s finances.
Leadership roles are to be determined on the first meeting of the academic year. Members
nominate themselves and must provide a verbal statement to the club as to why they should be
voted for. A vote for a simple majority is conducted then for each position until all roles are
filled, starting with President then Vice President then Treasurer.

Article 5 - Role of Campus Advisor
The campus advisor shall be determined first by their willingness to accept the position, then a
club member must nominate them and a simple majority vote by all club members will be used
to finalize a selection. If the advisor can no longer fulfill their duties a new one will be selected
using the same method as soon as possible.
The campus advisor will help maintain compliance between the actions of the club and the rules
and regulations presented by the University. The advisor is free to speak during meetings, adding
input just as a club member can, but cannot vote on any item of business. The advisor should aid
in ensuring every club member is treated fairly and their ideas are presented.

Article 6.-Meetings
There will be one scheduled meeting every month of the semester, with the possibility of the
President creating a special meeting communicated to the group (by telephone, text message, email, or other electronic messaging system) no later than 3 days before the meeting date. If a
member of the club wishes to arrange a meeting they must discuss it with the president.
Five members of the club must be present to hold a meeting.
In all voted decisions a simple majority of whatever item of business receives the most votes will
determine the group's decision. All members of the club can vote except for the advisor and the
President. The President may exercise a casting vote only to resolve deadlock.

Meetings will begin with a roll call, the President’s report, The Vice President’s report, and the
Treasurer’s report. Topics may include but are not limited to upcoming tournaments, events,
university communications, recruiting new members, current and future financials, fundraising,
and changes to the schedule. After the leadership’s reports any necessary voting will take place
and the meeting will become an open forum where any club member is allowed to share their
club-related ideas and add their input on items talked about in the meeting. It is during this time
that members should mention the scheduling of a special meeting to the President as well as any
additional items that could be voted on (changes to bylaws, etc).

Article 7 - Finances and Funding
There are no dues for club members.
Funds will be requested from Student Senate to help the team cover transportation, tournament
fees, and other related expenditures.
The club is not purely self-supporting, but all members are expected to aide in fundraising efforts
for the club.

Article 8 - Amending, Suspending, and Accepting
The bylaws can be changed under the following circumstances:
- If any issue not currently addressed in the current bylaws arises
- If any part of the current bylaws become non-applicable to the club
To initiate the changing of the bylaws a vote must be conducted with an alternative bylaw ready
to be put in place against the already existing bylaw. A simple majority vote consisting of all
club members will be conducted to determine if changes are to be made. All changes to the
Bylaws must be approved by the Student Senate, the Vice President of Student Affairs, and the
President of Clarion University.

Article 9 - Ratification
These bylaws, and its amendments, shall become effective upon ratification by the members of
The Clarion University Disc Golf Club and following the approval of the Student Senate of
Clarion University of Pennsylvania, the Vice President for Student & University affairs, and the
President of Clarion University.
