Constitution of Cru
Clarion University of Pennsylvania Chapter
Article I: Name
The name of this organization shall be Cru at Clarion University.
Article II: Purpose
Cru is an interdenominational, student led Christian organization seeking to provide a spiritual
environment for students. Cru seeks to turn lost students into lifelong Christ centered life long
laborers. We want to see students embrace the purpose, love, and forgiveness that God offers
them in a relationship with Jesus Christ. We also help grow students in their faith, encourage
them to passionately live life in a manner consistent with belief in the God of the Bible and
inspire commitment to advancing the purposes of God. We believe that a relationship with God
through Jesus provides the hope and purpose in life that people are seeking.
Article III: Membership
Section 1.
Cru has no policy regarding membership. Participation is open to any student who has an active
interest in its activities, is of good academic standing, and is in agreement with the policies of
Cru. Cru does not restrict membership based upon race, color, national origin, religion, sex
physical and mental disability, medical condition, ancestry, marital status, age, sexual
orientation, citizenship, or veteran status.
Section 2.
There are no requirements for attendees to participate in general meetings, retreats, and
conferences. However, those wishing to participate in positions of leadership must demonstrate
commitment to the ministry distinctive of Cru and be in alignment with our statement of faith and
policy for moral conduct.
Article IV: Duties and Elections of the Officers
Section 1.
Cru does not have officers. We do, however, have a small group of elected attendees of good
standing, with a strong commitment to the maintenance of the organizations and the fulfillment
of its mission who agree to be named as a steering committee, hereafter referred to as the
“Servant Team,” for the purpose of financial responsibility, operational oversight of the
organization, and communication with the administration.
Section 2.
Students in good academic standing who have been in fellowship with the organization, and
who have met the qualifications of “attendee of good standing” are eligible to be elected to a
leadership position. Students should show a strong commitment to God and to the purpose and
direction of the organization as well as being a model example of Christian living. Cru
encourages leaders to live in a way that honors Jesus Christ and reflects the teaching of
Christian scripture. This lifestyle is rooted in the gospel of Christ and expresses itself in love for
God and for one’s neighbor. It is a life of faith, hope, love, as well as purity, services and
sacrifice. We encourage leaders to follow the example of Jesus Christ in placing interests of
others above their own interests. We encourage honest and integrity.
The Servant Team will make nominations for each open leadership position. They will attempt to
nominate a minimum of two qualified students for each position. The nominated parties will then
be voted upon by the body of attendees of good standing wherein a simple majority of votes will
elect a new leader.
Section 3.
Unless otherwise noted in this document, a quorum is required for all issues brought to vote. A
quorum is defined as 50% of the attendees of good standing plus one.
Article V: Role of Faculty Advisor
Section 1.
The faculty advisor shall be selected by the Servant Team and asked to serve for a term of one
school year.
Section 2.
The faculty advisor will not be required to attend general, or leadership meetings. He/she may
attend either, and participate to the degree that he or she is able. The faculty advisor will serve
as a resource for overall direction, and advise on plans made by the Servant Team.
Article VI: Meetings
Section 1.
Regular meetings will be held weekly for all who are interested.
Section 2.
Unless otherwise noted in this document, a quorum is required for all issues brought to vote. A
quorum is defined as 50% of the attendees of good standing plus one.
