Constitution
Of
The Muslim Students Association of Clarion University
Article 1. Name
The name of this association shall be ‘The Muslim Students Association”.
Article 2. The Objectives






To practice the principles of Islam;
To hold Jumaa meetings on Fridays;
To celebrate annual days of significance
To provide possible assistance (moral and material) to members;
Organize seminars and meetings on themes of Islamic beliefs and culture to generate
interest in global peace through mutual understanding of various values.

Article 3. Membership
Membership is open to all students of Clarion University of Pennsylvania, irrespective of
sex, color, race, or national origin.
Article 4. Office Bearers





President: the President shall be the spokesperson of the association and will coordinate
its activities.
Vice-President: the Vice President shall assume all the duties of the president, when the
President is absent or has resigned. The Vice President shall also take minutes of the
meetings.
Treasurer: the Treasurer shall keep proper accounts of contributions and expenses and
submit the accounts to the general body at the end of each semester.
Community Service Chair: the Community Service Chair shall maintain the relations
with the university, community, faculty, administration, media, and broader organizations
with common interests.

Article 13. Elections




Elections shall be held by each semester.
nominations for office may be made by any association member and seconded by another
member.
all Office Bearers shall be elected by majority vote and secret ballot.

Article 5. Meetings





There shall be meetings for Jumaa on each Friday during Zuhr timings as announced
from time to time. Business of the association may be discussed and carried out after
Jumaa.
The association may have meetings on any day, time or place if so desired by the
majority of members.
The President may call emergency meetings of the Executive committee or the general
body.

Article 6. Committees
The general body, by majority decision, may form committees to execute special tasks.
These committees shall be formed as the need arises.
Article 7. Advisor
a) The members of the association shall elect an advisor from the university faculty
or
administration for one year.
b) There is no limit as to the number of consecutive terms an advisor may serve as
long as
he/she is re-elected.
c) All guidance worthy of obedience shall be based on Islamic principles and stipulated
university policies. The advisor has no power in the organizations
working.
Article 8. Funds





Every member may contribute to the common fund any amount of money or other
assistance. Any member may ask for the accounts regardless of his/her contribution.
The association may accept donations or gifts from non-members or any other source so
long as there are no conditions or strings attached to the offer.
Accounts of the association shall be operated at a local bank.
Joint signatures of the President and the Treasurer shall be essential for any withdrawal
(s).

Article 9. Executive Board



The Executive Board comprises President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Public
Relations Officer.
The Executive Board has the power to make and execute decisions on behalf of the
association.

Article 10. Amendments

Any necessary amendments to this constitution shall be made only at a meeting
properly convened, and where two thirds of the general body is present, and shall be
decided by majority vote/ all amendments shall be approved by the Student
Senate, V.P.
for Student Affairs, and the University President.

Article 11. Ratification
This constitution shall be effective subject to ratification by two-thirds majority of
the membership at a properly convened meeting by majority vote, and to the
approval by the Student Senate, V.P. for Student Affairs, and the University
President.
