NURSING CLUB

CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS

Article I
Name
The club shall be known as The Venango Campus ASN Nursing Club of Clarion
University and is recognized by the Student Senate, Venango Campus of Clarion
University.
Article II
Purpose
The purpose of the club is to provide nursing students with an open forum by which they
may identify with other nursing students and professional role models. To fulfill this
purpose members should voluntarily participate in activities such as: Community
programs, guest presentations through various media, and other social functions.
Article III
Membership
Section I

Membership is open to Associate Degree nursing students affiliated with
Venango Campus of Clarion University

Section II

Membership shall be determined by enrollment in the Nursing curriculum
at the Venango Campus.

Section III

Members are encouraged to apply and be approved by The Venango
Nursing Club Advisor via CU Connect.
Article IV
Offices

Section I

Officers of this club shall be President (a second year ASN student), Vice
President (a first year ASN student), Secretary (a second year and first
year ASN student), and Treasurer (a second year and first year ASN
student).

Section II

The nursing faculty, who accept the Advisor position, will be Advisor/
Advisors to the club.

Section III

The members of the nursing club are free to select the faculty/staff
member it wishes to serve as its advisor, pending the consent of the club.
Article V
Meetings

Section I

Regular meetings with all the officers (except those excused by the
President prior to the meeting) and the Advisor(s) present shall be held on
a monthly basis with the time to be arranged by semester.

Section II

All other meetings shall be called as the President or Advisor(s) deems
necessary.

Section III

A quorum must be present for all transactions of business.

Section IV

A minimum of five current club members, consisting of first or second year
members shall constitute a quorum.

Section V

A representative from the ASN Venango Nursing Club will attend at least
one Venango Student Senate meeting each academic semester.

Section VI

Any member of the Venango Student Senate may make unannounced
visits to the ASN Nursing Club meetings to ensure organizational activity
and compliance with the membership policies.
Article VI
Duty of Office

Section I

It shall be the duty of the President to preside at all meetings of the club,
assist in coordinating all committees, and to perform all duties pertaining to
the office.

Section II

It shall be the duty of the Vice-President to take over meetings in the
absence of President.

Section III

It shall be the duty of the Second-Year ASN Secretary to take minutes of all
meetings, to perform any correspondence of the club, and to be in charge
of all documents and papers pertaining to the club.

Section IV

It shall be the duty of the First-Year ASN Secretary to assist the SecondYear Secretary the with office. It shall also be the duty of the First-Year
ASN Secretary to take over all duties in the absence of the Second-Year
ASN Secretary.

Section V

It is the duty of the Second-Year ASN Treasurer to keep accurate and
current record of this club’s financial dealings, including the filing of
University Purchase Requests (UPR’S) and the use of student senate
funds allocated for club activities.

Section VI

It shall be the duty of the First-Year ASN Treasurer to assist the SecondYear ASN Treasurer with the office. It shall also be the duty of the FirstYear ASN Treasurer to take over all duties in the absence of the SecondYear ASN Treasurer.

Section VII

It shall be the duties of the Advisor(s) to assist and advise the club in a
manner helpful to meet the purpose of the club.
Article VII
Committees

Section I

It shall be the President’s duty to encourage and nominate members to any
committee required to conduct club business.

Section II

The Committee shall be dissolved when its purpose has been served.
Article VIII
Fundraisers

Section I

All members are encouraged to participate in the fundraisers within the
semester. Participation is defined as counting, distributing, selling, etc.

Section II

All ASN club members who participate in club fundraising events during the
two academic years will raise money for the NCLEX Review Course and/or
the pin for the annual pinning ceremony respectively in their graduating
year.

Section III

*** If the member sells product, 10% of the profit will benefit the mutual
club fund; 90% of the profits will benefit the individual seller. However,
if the member exits the academic program, the club retains the profit for the
mutual fund. All profits will be stored in Clarion Student Association
accounts.
Article IX
Term of office

Section I

Should an office other than President be vacated, the President will hold
an election during the next regular meeting to fill the unexpired term of
said office.

Section II

Should the office of President be vacated, the Vice-President shall hold
elections during the next regular meeting to fill the unexpired term of
office.

Section III

Election of officers at the beginning of the fall semester for first year
students is as follows:
A) First-Year ASN Vice-President (will move to President position second
year)
B) First-Year ASN Secretary and First-Year ASN Treasurer (will move to
Second-Year ASN Secretary and Second-Year ASN Treasurer position
for the following academic year).
Article X
Transportation

Section I

All transportation to activities of the club shall be provided by the members
themselves.

Section II

The members may utilize the transportation provided by Clarion University
if offered for specific outings.

These by laws should be reviewed annually in the fall.
