HEAD COACH
Dr. Louis Mingrone, professor of biology, was instrumental in the return of soccer
as a varsity sport at SSC two
years ago. After a 20-year
absence of the sport on
campus, he initiated a club
team in 1974 that posted a
2-4-1 record.
In 1975 when soccer was
named BSC's 14th vars-ity sport, Mingrone posted
a respectable 4-5-1 mark with his young squad.
He improved to a 6-5-1 record in 1976. In 1977 the
Huskies posted a 10-1 season becoming the
Pennsylvania Conference Eastern Division
Champions. SSC lost to Lock Haven, Division Ill
National Champions in the State Conference
Championship game, 2-0.
A native of Dormont, Pennsylvania, Mingrone
received his degrees from Slippery Rock State
College, where he lettered in soccer, Ohio
University, and Washington State University.
Mingrone is very knowledgeable and accommodating in his coaching assignments. Bloomsburg is very fortunate in having an individual of
his calibre behind its soccer program.
