Women's Outlook
Women's Cross Country is entering its third season as a
varsity sport at BSC and if the trend continues since its
inception, the Huskies should improve on their 1980
showing.
First year head coach Dick Daymont has placed his wife,
Chris, in charge of the women's program. Mrs. Daymont will
be the team's third head coach in as many years, but brings
with her a wealth of knowledge and credentials in the cross
country area. For the past five years she has served as coach
for the women 's team at St. Olaf (Minnesota) College and led
the team to consecutive runnerup finishes in 1979 and 1980
at the AIAW Division Ill National Championships.
" This season will be a learning year for us," she stated .
"We only have 10 girls, but all of them seem very enthusiastic
about the new programs we've introduced. Only one of the
team members is a freshman which certainly indicates that
we're going to have to find a lot of new people for next year."
Sophomore Vicki Amici appears to be the top performer
followed closely by junior Lauren Meymaris. Two other
sophomores Yvonne Delnis and Lori Pingitore are expected
to provide solid depth behind the first two runners, and
captain Anne Grab will be a contributing factor if an ailing
knee Jleals-quickly .
Lisa Clarke and Mary Urban, two veterans, will be looked
upon to step in when needed throughout the season .
" After our first few meets, we should have a good idea of
just how far we have to go. We'll use the dual meets to
prepare for the PSAC Championships. All our training and
workouts are geared in the direction of the conference
meet ," stated the head coach.

Women's Head Coach
CHRIS DAYMONT will assist her husband with
both cross country teams , but will work primarily as the women 's head coach .
Mrs. Daymont spent the past five years in
charge of the highly successful women 's cross
country program at St. Olaf College where she
led the Oles to consecutive runnerup finishes
in the AIAW Division Ill National Champion sh ips in 1979 and 1980. Her squads also
captured Minnesota state titles from 1978
through 1980 and in track and field in 1979 and
1980.
She has coached six different athletes who have been named as AllAmericans on eight different occasions in both cross country and
track and field.
During the 1975-76 season , the coach served as interim mentor for
the Syracuse University men 's track and field team. She received her
Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education at Cortland State
and her Masters at Syracuse.
The Daymonts have two daughters , Sara, age 2, and Megan , 4
months.

Men's Outlook
First year head coach Dick Daymont will get his first accurate
indication of how good the Huskies are when they host
perennially tough West Chester State in the season opener
on September 12.
"On paper the team should be a little better just because
most of the kids have at least one year of experience,"
Daymont stated. "But, it's so hard to tell until you run against
some outside competition."
BSC will be out to improve upon last season's 3-5 record
and its tenth place showing in the Pennsylvania Conference
Champsionships.
The Huskies top runners in 1980, seniors Tom Groff and
Ken Latch return to resume their duties as co-captains . Also
back are juniors Bob and John Feeley and Bill Harte. They will
be joined by Harte's brother, Kevin, who appears to be the top
newcomer. One of Daymont's main concerns is the amount
of people competing for spots on the team. "We only have 25
kids total and that includes the 10 women."
The first year mentor has also inherited a men's team that
has seen four different coaches in the past seven years and
one that hasn't posted a winning mark since 1975.
"The main thing we want the program to have is continuity,
so the kids know what to expect. Once we implement our
system of training and discipline, I think it will be much
easier for everyone involved."
Men's cross country began at BSC in 1932 and went 18-7
over a period of eight years before stopping prior to the 1940
season. It was reinstated as a varsity sport again in 1964 and
since has an overall record of 75-73.
