ALL-AMERICAN STEVE EACHUS
BLOOMSBURG
STATE
COLLEGE
OUTLOOK
Coach Clark Boler, in his second year as head
mentor, has set goals with the team members for
improvement on last season's record and finishes
in invitational meets.
This season could be the best team Bloomsburg
has had in the past few years. Steve Eachus, who
placed fifth in the Pennsylvania Conference
championships, second at the IC4A's in New York
City, and ran to an Al I-American eighth place in
the NCAA Division II championships in
Springfield, Missouri, last year, will be leading
the Huskies on their crusade this fall.
The team finished sixth in the PC last year, the
best the team has ever done in the conference,
and fini~hed a respectable ninth out of 38 teams
in the IC4A competition last year. With these
accomplishments as well as a young team, the
Huskies have the potential to better their marks of
previous seasons.
Other runners to be counted on this year will be
returnees Mark Bond, Bob Kantner, Chuck
Mannix, Stan Cohen, Scott Mccorry, John
McKeever, John Mull, Rob Wintersteen, along
with some promising in-coming freshmen.
"We have a particularly tough schedule," states
Boler, "only two of our meets are home. In
addition to our regular state college competitors,
we meet a number of other strong opponents. If
we stay healthy, we shou Id be in good shape by
the time of the conference championships."
HEAD COACH
Clark Boler, a member of
the Health and Physical Education staff since 1968, is
in his second year as cross
country coach. In addition
to his teaching duties,
Boler is the head baseball
coach and runs a fall program. He was also an
assistant football coach at
BSC for eight years and for
a. number of years has been a qualified PIAA
official.
A native of Northport, Alabama, he was a
member of the 1961 National Championship
Football team at the University of Alabama and a
relief pitcher in baseball for the Crimson Tide. He
also earned his master's degree and AA
certification from that university.
Boler previously was a head baseball coach,
assistant basketball coach, and assistant football
coach at Gadsden High School in Alabama. He
has also served as a player/coach for three years
in semi-professional basketball as well as
participating several years in YMCA leagues
where he was quite successful.
