OUTLOOK
With five of last year's first six singles players returning,
coupled with two outstanding freshmen who may make the
starting units, prospects are bright for a much-improved season
over 1971 's dismal record of 1-9.
Participating in three matches last fall against Wilkes, Kings,
and Susquehanna in which Bloomsburg lost only one point, Coach
Reese had an early insight into his team's ability. It was apparent
that his three seniors - Curt Hannaman, Jim Brewer, and Duane
Greenly had worked hard on their games over the summer. These
three played one, two, and three last year, but will be moved
down one position this year to make room for freshman Tom
Sweitzer, who is currently ranked 16th in the Middle States
Juniors.
Sophomores Tom Leedom and Tom Jones, who played
Nos. 5 and 6 last year, will have strong competition from another
freshman Dick Grace. The remaining yearling Dennis Hartzell will
also be competing for one of the last two positions. Early indications are that the double teams will consist of Sweitzer and
Leedom, Greenly and Brewer, Hannaman and Grace.
This is the last year the Huskies will be hampered by lack of
early_season practice facilities. Due to be available by this June is a
new fieldhouse, housing two indoor Tartan courts and an outdoor
facility of eighteen all-weather courts, nine of which will be
lighted.
