TENNIS OUTLOOK

Predicting the outcome of eight varsity intercollegiate tennis matches to be played by the
Bloomsburg squad this year, would be a tough job
for anyone. This is the first time in nearly a
score of years that the activity has ranked as a
varsity sport.
Only two members of the team have had any
experience in competition, and none of them have
had experience at the intercollegiate level.
Practice began in earnest several weeks ago,
and, due to bad weather, the team has had few
opportunities to play on the outdoor courts at
the Bloomsburg Tennis Club, which will serve
as their home base of operations.
Coach Himes has indicated that the squad will
proceed with some caution until members are
able to gather more experience; however, all seem
determined to compile a respectable record despite the "first season" problems.
Home and away matches have been scheduled
with four members of the Pennsylvania State
College Conference. They include Kutztown,
Millersville, Shippensburg, and East Stroudsburg
State Colleges.
