Professor Patrick Penland

from the Graduate School of Library
and
Information Sciences,
University of Pittsburgh.

The distinguished Dr. Penland’s research
focuses on all facets of communications
science. He has been director of
discussion groups in Parry So\ind and
Ann Arbor and developed an on-line
experimental group encounter simulation
designed to study the behavior patterns
of group participants. Kis many published
works include articles on communications
management, leadership development,
discovery management and group dynamics
for library specialists. Dr. Penland is
listed in LEADERS OF EDUCATION, COMMUNITY
LEADERS OF AMERICA, hEN OF ACHIEVEMENT,

and several other biographical references.
He is a member of the Adult Education
Association, the Association for Educa­
tional Communications and Technology,
and the International Communications
Association.

Dr. Penland will elaborate upon the principles
of Lifelong Learning patterns, of the signifi­
cant attributes of these patterns, and of how
they become realistic when transformed into
specific goals and relationships. Within this
context, he will explore the valuable connota­
tions affixed to Continuing Education and the
implications of Life-Time Study for the faculty
at institutions of higher learning.

Along with Dr. Penland, a panel composed of
representatives from the Edinboro State College
faculty will react to various segments of this
program. Included on this panel will be:
