The inforniatioii you gave us when you applied for a social security num
ber shows you will soon be 65 years of age. It may be to your advantage
to file for social security Medicare and cash benefits now, even if you
are still working.
You do not need to retire Completely to get cash benefits. And you may
get Medicare protection under social security even if you work full-time.
To get these benefits, you need to apply for them and give us some proof
of your age. (The enclosed list shows the types of records which may be
used to prove your age.) If any other evidence is needed later, we will
let you know.
The Medicare program has two parts—hospital insurance and medical
insurance—which are explained in the enclosed booklet. The booklet also
explains that the filing period for medical insurance is limited. For
your coverage to begin at 65, you will need to sign up before the month
you reach 65.
For more information, or if you wish to apply for retirement benefits or
Medicare, please get in touch with us by telephone. When you telephone
