The Fighting Scots have rebounded from a
seven game losing streak with two straight
wins in the PSAC West. The Boro defeated
Slippery Rock at home, 89-75, and Clarion
on the road, 95-84, last week. Edinboro
played an even smaller line-up than usual in
the victories, featuring four guards and a
510" forward. After averaging just 70.8
ppg., the Scots averaged 92.0 points in
their two wins. Megan Zitner and Wendy
Wiggins each registered double-doubles in
both wins. Edinboro lost to Indiana(Pa.) at
lUP in the last match-up just two weeks
ago, 89-75. lUP is coming off a loss to
Slippery Rock, 80-69. The game before,
lUP defeated the East's fifth-ranked team,
Shippensburg, 80-76. The Indians are 3-5
in the West and 11-11 overall. lUP is fifth
in the West, fighting for the top four spots
in the playoffs, along with the Boro.
Edinboro's late-season surge must continue
to keep playoff hopes alive. The Scots have
four games remaining in the West and play
three at home. Besides lUP, the Boro will
host Shippensburg and Lock, and travel to
Slippery Rock.

Edinboro has struggled to match up against
its taller opponents all year long. As of the
last two games, coach Stan Swank has
found his smallest formula to bring big suc
cess. Edinboro snapped its seven game
losing streak with wins over Slippery Rock
and Qarion. His "Smurf" lineup, as Swank
refers to them, employs four guards and
just one forward. Courtney Thompson,

(75 for 201) this season, the second-best
total in Edinboro's record book. She stands
12 away from breaking Megan Miller's
record (86) set in 1998. Henson ranks sec
ond for most three's in a career with 185
(trailing Megan Miller's record of 222). The
left-hander set a freshman record with 51
three-pointers in her rookie year and made
59 from downtown a year ago, ranking
third among all-time season totals. The tri
captain is shooting 37.3 percent from
behind the arc. Henson leads the PSAC in
three-pointers made for the second season
in a row. She has scored 822 points in her
career at Edinboro, ranking 24th.

The Scots

could move to 6-6 in the West, while the
rest of the bunch will battle out some tough
match-ups left on the schedule. Edinboro
