The Edinboro University women's basket­
ball team hosts its third straight conference
opponent with Indiana(Pa.) entering
MoComb Fieldhouse. Tonight's matchup is
an important PSAC West competition with
both schools battling for one of the four
conference tournament spots. Edinboro
and Indiana(Pa.) are currently tied for third
place in the PSAC West. The Indians are
ranked 7th in the East Region.

Edinboro leads 29-21

The two teams split a pair of games last
season with Edinboro ending the Indians
25-game regular season win streak and an
11-game win streak in the PSAC West with
a 78-66 win on the road. lUP avenged the
loss with a 71-67 victory at McComb
Fieldhouse.

Stan Swank is in his 14th season at the helm
of the Fighting Scot program. The recordholder for career wins at Edinboro, Swank
shows an overall mark of 237-146. He has
guided the Fighting Scots to eight PSAC
Tournaments, including four in the last five
seasons, along with five NCAA Division II
Tournament appearances.
Five of his
squads have posted 20-or-more wins,
including the 1996-97 edition which went
24-9 and advanced to Edinboro's only Elite
Eight ... IndianafPa.) head coach Sandy
Thomas has led the Indians to an 88-43
ledger over the past five seasons. lUP is
62-17 over the past three seasons with
back-to-back appearances in the NCAA
Tournament.

Mm Way, a 5'10" forward, has recorded five
consecutive double-doubles and seven for
the year. She is averaging 22.4 ppg. and
14.8 rpg., while shooting 56.3 percent (40
of 71) from the field over the past five
games. The Lowber, PA native has led the
Rghting Scots in rebounding in 15 of the
team's 18 contests and in scoring 8 times
this season ... freshman Courtney
Thompson, a 5'6" guard from Girard High
School, averages 4.2 ppg. with 45 assists.
Thompson is registering 7.6 ppg., 2.4 rpg.
and 3.0 assists per game since joining the
starting lineup five games ago ... Katie
Raymond, a 6'2" center, contributes 6.8

see time in the backcourt... other reserves
on the second unit include sophomore for­
wards Lachelle Crawl (4.5 ppg. and 1.7
rpg.}, Suzanne Petruska (2.4 ppg. and 2.2
rpg.) and Adann Williams (4.5 ppg. and 3.8
rbg. with 17 blocked shots)... at 6'2" Arlena

Jean-Pierre. The 5'10" forward has accumuiated 684 points and 596 rebounds at
Edinboro and 859 points to go along with
706 rebounds during her college career

Edinboro got back on the winning track
with a 65-53 victory over Lock Haven last
Saturday. Three players reached doubi fig­
ures for the Fighting Scots as they
improved to 12-6 overall and 2-2 in the
PSAC West. Mm Vay led the team with 21
points and 17 rebounds, her fifth consecu­
tive double-double. Katie Raymond estab­
lished a new career-high with 15 points and

11 rebounds. Krystal Henson tallied 14
points and three assists. Despite register­
ing just two points, Wendy Wiggins had a
productive game with 5 rebounds, 7
assists, 2 blocked shots and a steal. The
Fighting Scots outrebounded Lock Haven,
52-41, to help offeet a poor shooting per­
formance. Edinboro shot 36.5 percent (23
of 63) from the floor, making only 1 of 8
three-point attempts.

Sophomore Krystal Henson continues to
climb in the Edinboro record books. The
5'4" guard surpassed the century mark and
moved into third place in career threepointers with a pair of triples in the win
over Lock Haven. In just 45 career games,
Henson has made 101 three-pointers or
2.24 triples per game. The Rome, OH
native has made six three-pointers in a
game three times this season.

SCOUTING THE INDIANS
Indiana(Pa.) lost its last outing, 73-71, to California(Pa.), despite having five players reach
double figures in scoring ... the Indians are led by senior Jodi Frederick. The 6'1" forward
averages 14.8 ppg. and 6.4 rpg., with 33 blocked shots. Frederick, a 1998 All-PSAC selec­
tion, sat out a majority of last season with a knee injury ... 5'11" senior Retil McDonald
(10.6 ppg. and 6.4 rpg.) starts at the other forward position ... Carrie Hey, a 5'4" junior,
registers 2.9 ppg. .. Megan Woodall, a 5'9" senior, contributes 11.4 points and 4.8
rebounds per contest with 101 assists. The 1999-2000 first-team All-PSAC selection also
leads the team with 44 steals ... Carrie Maitland, a 5'10" senior, rounds out the starting
lineup averaging 4.1 ppg. and 2.2 rpg. .. SarahIdesar, a 6'1" forward, tallies 13.7 ppg.
with a team-high 7.1 rpg. off the lUP bench ... 5'9" freshman less Conner (6.5 ppg.) is
an outside threat with 29 three-point field goals ... Melanie Karas, a 5'10" guard, tallies
5.3 points per game ... Indiana(Pa.) ranks 14th in Division II in field goal percentage at
46.0 percent ... despite the high shooting percentage from the field, the Indians have
