The Edinboro University women's basket­
ball team wraps up a four-game homestand
with a contest versus California(Pa.).
Tonight's matchup is an important PSAC
West competition with Edinboro just onegame back of the second place Vulcans.
Shippensburg remains atop the PSAC West
with a 6-0 record in conference play.

Edinboro leads 30-13

The Fighting Scots hold a decisive edge in
the all-time series but the Vulcans won the
last meeting between the two schools.
California(Pa.) easily handled Edinboro, 6440, in their first meeting this season. The
Fighting Scots shot just 21.0 percent (13 of
62) in the loss to the Vulcans.

Stan Swank is in his 14th season at the helm

of the Fighting Scot program. The recordholder for career wins at Edinboro, Swank
shows an overall mark of 239-145. He has
guided the Fighting Scots to eight PSAC
Tournaments, including four in the last five
seasons, along with five NCAA Division II
Tournament appearances.
Five of his
squads have posted 20-or-more wins,
including the 1996-97 edition which went
24-9 and advanced to Edinboro's only Elite
Eight ... California(Pa.) head coach Darcie
Vincent has led the Vulcans to a 12-6 ledger
in her first season. Vincent had a 52-54
record in four years in charge of the
Slippery Rock program.

iOmVay, a 5'10" forward,

is averaging 20.8
ppg. and 13.8 rpg. while shooting 54.3 per­
cent (44 of 81) from the field over the past
six games. The Lowber, PA native has led
the Fighting Scots in rebounding in 16 of
the team's 19 contests and in scoring 8
times this season. Vay had a string of five
consecutive double-doubles snapped with
13 points and 9 rebounds versus
Indiana(Pa.) ... freshman Ceurtney
Thcmpson, a 5'6" guard from Girard High
School, averages 4.8 ppg. with 49 assists.
Thompson is registering 8.5 ppg., 2.7 rpg.
and 3.2 assists per game since joining the
starting lineup six games ago ... Katie
Raymend, a 6'2" center, contributes 7.0
points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

Raymond registered a career high with 15
points versus Lock Haven. Over the last six
games, she is recording 9.8 points and 6.8
rebounds per contest... Wendy WlQSlns, a
5'9" guard, averages 9.6 ppg. with 59
assists ... sophomore Krystal Hensen has
returned to the starting lineup after coming
off the bench for five games. The 5'4"
guard has rebounded from a shooting
siump to register 14.2 points and 4.3
assists per game over the last six contests
... freshman Megan ZItner (5.5 ppg., 17
steals) and Julie McKees (3.3 ppg., 2.3 rpg)
see time in the backcourt... other reserves
include sophomore forwards Lachelle Crawl
(4.5 ppg. and 1.7 rpg.), Suzanne Petruska
(2.5 ppg. and 2.3 rpg.) and Adann Williams
(4.3 ppg. and 3.6 rpg. with 17 blocked
shots)... at 6'2" ArlenaWInn (3.4 ppg., 4.5
rpg.), a transfer from Bethune-Cookman,
provides size up front.

Senior Mm Vay moved into eighth place in
career rebounds on Wednesday, going past
Jeannine Jean-Pierre. The 5'10" forward
has accumulated 697 points and 605
rebounds at Edinboro and 872 points to go
along with 715 rebounds during her college
career which began at California(Pa.).

The inside-outside tandem of Mm Vay and
Krystal Henson is ranked among the Division
II statistical leaders in rebounding and
three-point shooting. Vay, a 5'10" forward,
ranks 11th in Division II at 10.7 rebounds
per game. The Lowber, PA native had 25
rebounds in a contest earlier this season
versus Clarion, tied for the highest total in
Division II this season. Henson, a 5’4"
sophomore, is seventh in the NCAA, making
2.8 tripies per contest. The former Grand
Valiey High School standout has made 51 of
146 from three-point distance. Henson
already ranks third in the Edinboro record
books with 102 career three-pointers in just
46 contests.

victory with a 74-59 win over Indiana(Pa.).
Five piayers reached double figures for the
Fighting Scots as they improved to 13-6
overall and 3-2 in the PSAC West. Mm Vay
just missed her sixth consecutive double­
double with 13 points and 9 rebounds.
KaUe Raymond reached double figures for
the fourth time in six games with 10 points.

points and 5 assists. Wendy WlQRlns
snapped out of a scoring slump, registering
12 points. The fifth player to reach double­
figures was freshman Conitnoy Thompson.
The Girard High School product matched a
career-high with 13 markers on 6 of 8
shooting from the floor. Edinboro shot 50.0
percent (25 of 50) from the floor and 83.3
percent (13 of 16) from the foul line.
