sox HARRISON STADIUM’S LARGEST CROWD IN HISTORY . 7,000
Serving as home for ESC athletes and fans is
spacious Sox Harrison Stadium. The edifice was
dedicated in the fall of 1965 in honor of "Sox"
Harrison who served as head football and basketball
coach at the College for 35 years.'
The stadium has become a popular north
western Pennsylvania site in recent years. The
Cleveland Browns and the Buffalo Bills have staged
their annual "rookie scrimmage" at Edinboro for the
past five summers while the University of Pittsburgh,
ranked number one in many pre-season polls,
conducts its pre-season camp at ESC which is
concluded by a scrimmage in Sox Harrison Stadium,
Complete facilities are located beneath tne
grandstand area, which seats 2,500 people. Bleacher
seats on the visitors side of the stadium bring the
total seating capacity to 4,500. Locker space for both

the home and visiting teams, the coaching staff
offices and locker room, the officials' dressing room,
the training room, showers, the weight room and a
laundry room are utilized within this space. Also
included are restrooms, janitors' facilities, equip
ment roo'ms, a large concession stand and a glass
enclosed press box.
In addition to the football field, the stadium also
contains complete track facilities. A quarter-mile
oval, a 220 straight-away and asphalt approaches for
the field events highlight the home of the cinder
sport.
Pictured above is the largest crowd in Edinboro
State's athletic history, as an estimated 7,000 fans
jammed Sox Harrison Stadium to view the 1971
homecoming clash between the Fighting Scots and
Slippery Rock State. ESC captured the contest, 4921, enroute to a perfect 9-0 regular season record.

Edinboro State's 1982 guide has been designed to
assist members of the press in the coverage of Fighting
Scot football. Press releases, photographs and statistics
will be made available for your use throughout the season.
Pre-game football material (rosters, starters, statistics and
records) are available in the press box. A play-by-play,
halftime and final statistics will be provided for each home
game. If additional information is desired, please contact

PROVIDING A BOLD NEW VISION FOR ESC

EDINBORO... 125 YEARS OF SERVICE

academic distinction of excellent students by offering
specialized interdisciplinary course work and ad
vanced research work.
President Diebold's principal fields of profes
sional interest include higher education manage
ment, governance, and planning; budget develop
ment and fiscal control; legislative liaison; and
personnel management/collective bargaining. While
at Rutgers University in 1963 he received a Wall
Street Journal fellowship.
A native of Orange, New Jersey, he served as
President of the University of Alaska from 19771979. Prior to that, he was executive secretary to the
Board of Regents and Special Assistant to the Presi
dent of the University of Alaska's statewide system.
From 1969 to 1976, he was director of the Division of
College Development of Kean College, New Jersey
(formerly Newark State College), and from 1965 to
1969, he was Assistant Superintendent of Neptune
Township Public Schools in New Jersey.

ESC President - Foster F. Diebold
Foster F. Diebold was named Edinboro State
College's 14th President on August 1, 1979. Since
that time, he has brought a consistently bold vision to
his guidance of the College's many-faceted services
to northwestern Pennsylvania.
Noted for his extensive experience in the field of
education management. President Diebold had pre
viously served as President of the University of
Alaska statewide system.
His innovative efforts at Edinboro have taken
many shapes. Most recently, he initiated a total
reorganization of the College's various academic
schools and administrative offices with a watchful
eye upon fiscal responsibility and increased institu
tional responsiveness. In keeping with his policy of
making maximum use of existing campus resources
in higher education, he has imaginatively met the
ever-changing needs brought about by new and
emerging student interests and societal expecta
tions.
Unique cooperative programs with area business
and industry are also the result of President Diebold's
revitalization of Edinboro State College. Among his
favorite projects is the All-College Honors Program,
which draws upon the contributions of college staff
for its scholarship funds, and which recognizes the

President Diebold's community service includes
membership on the Board of Corporators,/Hamot
Medical Center in Erie, and on Marine Bank's Local
Advisory Board. Recently he was a panel participant
at the First Global Conference on the Future in
Toronto. He also serves as a member of The William
J. McMannis and A. Haskell McMannis Educational
Trust Fund Advisory Board, and Chairman of the
Government, Education, and Social Agencies Divi
sion of the Erie County United Way Campaign.
Edinboro's President holds an associate degree
in psychology from Monmouth Community College,
West Long Branch, New Jersey; a bachelor of science
degree in education from Monmouth College; a
master of arts in educational administration from
Seton Hall University; and he has met course require
ments for his doctorate in education at Rutgers
University.

President Diebold currently serves as Chairman
of the Committee on Administration and Finance in
the State College and University System of Penn
sylvania and is a member of the Commission of
Presidents Executive Committee. He holds member
ship on the American Association of State Colleges
and Universities Committee on State Relations, and
on the Government Relations Committee of the
Pennsylvania Association of Colleges and Univer
sities. He is also a charter member of the World
Future Society.
The President and his wife, Patricia, have two
daughters, six-year-old Jessica and one-year old
Stacey.

Founded as a private academy in 1857, Edinboro State
College has continued its surge to the forefront as one of
the leading educational institutions in western Pennsyl
vania. Situated on a sprawling 585-acre campus in the
scenic resort community of Edinboro, the College is within
100 miles of the educational and cultural centers of
Buffalo, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh. It is just 15 miles south
of Erie, the third largest city in Pennsylvania, and easily
accessible from all directions by interstates 79,80 and 90.
Having provided 125 years of service, Edinboro has the
distinction of being the second normal school established
in Pennsylvania and the 12th in the United States. It has
grown to more than forty buildings including the 350,000volume Baron-Forness Library, a modern seven-story
structure which serves as a focal point for the spacious
campus. More than 5,800 students representing almost
every county in the Commonwealth, as well as numerous
states and foreign countries attend Edinboro. Its tradition of
educational service and research is matched by a distin
guished faculty, more than two-thirds of whom have
earned doctoral degrees.
The College now offers more than 100 undergraduate,
graduate, and associate degree programs, a diversity
unmatched by any other college or university in north
western Pennsylvania. While seeking to meet the educa
tional needs of its region from both a professional and

cultural standpoint, Edinboro now makes contributions in
the fields of education, government, environmental improve
ment, urban and rural problems, crime prevention, and
service to business and industry. Recent program develop
ments include those in the high-demand areas of allied
health, business administration, communications, com
puter technology, nursing, and various pre-professional
offerings such as law, dentistry, medicine, pharmacy and
veterinary science. Numerous student internships provide
additional examples of the College's efforts to create a
close working relationship with the people it serves while,
at the same time, offering students intellectual and career
opportunities.
Edinboro has initiated an All-College Honors Program
to provide challenging and enriched learning experiences
for academically gifted students. Undergraduate students
are encouraged to strive for academic excellence both in
their major fields and in other disciplines. Honors students
pursue studies that are greater in depth and scope than
those required of other undergraduates.
Although the costs for attending ESC rank among the
lowest in the Commonwealth, over $8,000,000 in financial
aid is available annually to eligible students.
Students are admitted to the College in September,
January, or at the beginning of each summer session and
are considered for admission on the basis of their general
scholarship, nature of secondary program, and SAT or ACT
scores.

MCDONALD BUILDS A SOUND FOUNDATION
Stadium as well as the pre-season drills of the Pitt
Panthers, Duquesne University and six area high schools
make Edinboro their camp home. McDonald has con
structed six new football fields to accommodate these
needs and the Football Camp of Champions that attracts
more than 350 young gridders.
The personable athletic director also staged Edinboro's
first Hall of Fame fesivities that featured the induction of 18
charter members. These past athletes, coaches and indivi
duals who have promoted the cause of Fighting Scot
athletics were honored at a banquet where more than 500
attendees witnessed their inductions.
McDonald has been at Edinboro State since 1962 and
for 12 years served as the Fighting Scot basketball coach
(1962-1975) and never experienced a losing season while
his teams compiled an impressive 181 wins against only 89
losses. During that span, his cagers won four Western
Division Pennsylvania Conference crowns, the PC state
championship and two District 18 titles that netted trips to
the NAIA National Tournament. His teams set 27 ,ESC
records and made 19 post-season appearances while four
of his players were named All-Americans.

Athletic Director - Jim McDonaid
Edinboro State's athletic program was placed under
new leadership a year ago with the appointment of Jim
McDonald, a health and physical education professor, as
the college's athletic director. Edinboro President Foster
Diebold named McDonald on the basis of his aggressive
leadership capabilities and his anticipated role to increase
fundraising activities for the Scots' athletic program.
The newly appointed athletic director made immediate
changes in the Scots' athletic program by adding women's
cross country and men's volleyball to increase Edinboro's
offerings to 17 men and women's intercollegiate sports. To
make the Scots competitive at the NCAA Division II level, he
also kicked off the College's first major fund raising
campaign for student athletic scholarships. He emphasized
the fact that scholarship support was the athletic pro
gram's major challenge and set a $100,000 goal that the
staff would work toward by fall of 1982.
Through his efforts more than $160,000 has been
raised for the Fighting Scots general scholarship fund.
From this amount $110,000 will be distributed directly to
ESC men and women athletes while the remainder pro
vides scholarship aid through interest which the money
generates. A major thrust of this campaign is the Curly
Halmi Fund which had an originally established goal of
$20,000 less than a year ago and now totals $28,000 with
additional amounts forthcoming. Another significant
McDonald fund raising project has been his Century Club
organization which permits Scot fans admittance to
athletic contests in addition to offering recreational activi
ties in McComb Fieldhouse.
Under McDonald's first-year reign Edinboro's summer
camp program has grown from two offerings to include
seven different interest areas. In addition to the annual
Buffalo Bills-Cleveland Browns scrimmage at Sox Harrison

Prior to accepting his position at Edinboro, McDonald
served as assistant basketball coach in Erie, Pa. He is a
1965 graduate of Bridgeport High School in his home town
of Bridgeport, West Virginia.
In 1960 he received a degree in chemistry and physical
education from West Virginia Wesleyan College and he
also holds a master's degree in health from the University
of Buffalo. He has done doctoral work in sports science at
West Virginia University.
As an undergraduate, he set nine school records at
Wesleyan and was twice voted both AP and UPl basketball
All-American. In 1960, he was the second leading scorer in
the United States, averaging slightly over 33 points a game,
and led his team to the national basketball tournament in
Kansas City, Missouri. He was named to the NAIA's AllTournament Team in 1959 and 1960.
In 1966, McDonald was selected Area Eight Coach of
the Year by the eastern seaboard coaches and that same
year was honored as one of the top ten finalists in the
Coach of the Year national poll. l)^cDonald's honors also
include selection to the West Virginia All-Time College
Basketball Team and membership in the West Virginia
Sports Hall of Fame. He served four years on the NAIA's
All-American selection committee and was chosen by the
NAIA to coach an All-American team of NBA-bound cagers
who won the Gold Medal in Israel's Hapoel Games. His
all-star coaching assignment brough additional recogni
tion to Edinboro as the College was named as the team's
official training site.
In addition to his classroom and basketball coaching
duties, McDonald was Edinboro State's golf coach for 17
years during which his teams won over 40 tournaments
and finished as high as 3rd place at the NCAA Division II
National Tournament. He was twice selected District
Coach of the Year in golf.
As a resident of Edinboro, McDonald has a record of
extensive community involvement. He was Little League
Baseball Director for four years and for the past two years,
has been a member of the General McLane School Board.
He and his wife, Mary Lou, have three sons - Mark, Mike,
and Matthew.

CREEHAN’S PROGRAM EARNS RESPECT

Head Coach - Denny Creehan
Edinboro State embarked on a new era of football three
years ago with the appointment of Dennis Creehan as the
ninth head football coach in the College's history. Creehan
had previously served as a staff assistant for three seasons
under Bill McDonald who had successfully guided the
Fighting Scot grid program for ten years.
The new Edinboro mentor had an exciting debut at the
ESC helm when his crop of young grid hopefuls came just
seconds away from registering a .500 season in 1979. The
Scots won three of their final four contests with upset wins
over Indiana and Westminster to close with a 4-6 overall
slate.
Creehan's band of young Fighting Scots turned the
corner in only his second year at the helm when Edinboro
compiled its fourth best season ever with a 6-2-1 mark.
Enroute to the impressive ledger and a second-place finish
in the Pennsylvania Conference's highly repected Western
Division, ESC gridders inked five new marks in the record
book while tying four more standards.
The 31-year-old coach's .5CX) winning percentage
mark via his two year total of 14-14-1, moved him to second
place in the win category behind his previous head coach
Bill McDonald who holds a .614 rating with a 54-34-7
mark.
Creehan was a captain of Edinboro State's 1970 team
that captured the Lambert Bowl, emblematic as the best
small college football team in the East, won the Penn
sylvania Conference championship and earned a berth in
the NAIA national playoffs. He starred in the secondary as a
strong safety that season when the Fighting Scots finished
their regular campaign undefeated with a 9-0 record.
Prior to his stint on the Edinboro State staff, Creehan
served as recruiting coordinator at the University of Pitts
burgh in 1974 under Coach Johnny Majors. The following

year he was a member of the Carnegie-Mellon University
football staff as the team's offensive coordinator.
Upon graduation from Edinboro in 1971, Creehan was
named offensive coordinator at Keystone Oaks High School
in Pittsburgh and directed an offense that netted 300 yards
per game. A year later as Keystone Oaks' defensive
coordinator, he tutored a unit that allowed only 8 points per
game and permitted only a 33 percent pass completion
mark by opposing quarterbacks.
Creehan distinguished himself in the coaching ranks
as defensive coordinator at Edinboro State College in 1976
when the Scots were ranked fourth among the nation's
NCAA schools in rushing defense and claimed 18 inter
ceptions. in the spring of 1977, he performed as acting
head coach for Edinboro State's Bill McDonald who was on
a sabbatical leave.
The young Edinboro mentor has likewise had an
outstanding athletic career as a football player. After
starring as both a fullback and strong safety at Bethel Park
High School, the Castle Shannon, Pa., native accumulated
numerous gridiron honors at Edinboro State. At the con
clusion of his senior campaign for the Fighting Scots, he
was accorded first team All-East honors by the ECAC and
first team All-State Associated Press accolades while
performing as the Scots' strong safety. In addition, he was
named to the Pittsburgh Press All-District first team and to
the NAIA District 18 All-Star squad. He was one of three
1970 ESC captains who accepted Edinboro's Lambert Bowl
trophy at the Lambert Awards Banquet in New York City.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Creehan of Bethel Park,
the Fighting Scot coach resides in Edinboro with his wife,
Linda, and their two sons, Kevin and Casey.

SCOT GRIDDERS YOUNG, BUT EXPERIENCED
Edinboro State's experienced crop of Fighting Scot
gridders under the direction of fourth-year coach Denny
Creehan are anxious to kickoff their 1982 schedule after
finishing with a torrid flourish last year. The youthful Scots,
who are seeking to establish themselves as contenders in
the Pennsylvania Conference's highly respected Western
Division, wrapped up 1981 with three straight wins and 15
starters along with 35 lettermen will be on hand attempting
to extend the streak.
"We're still a young football team," claims Creehan,
"but most of these kids have had a lot of playing time to give
them varsity experience." A glance at the roster gives
testimony to the head coach's evaluation as only seven
seniors are listed along with 20 juniors and 32 sophomores
in the veteran ranks.
Behind what Creehan deems "the best line we've ever
had," the Fighting Scots wing-T offense is pointing to
continue the torrid pace it set during 1981's final three
games. With sophomore quarterback Blair Hrovat directing
the ESC attack, the Scots offensive unit exploded for 87
points during the trio of season-ending victories.
Four of five starters return up front offensively for
Creehan's chargers. The veteran senior quartet includes
Chris Rounds (6-1, 235, G) Barry Swanson (6-1, 230, C),
Mark Swiatek (6-4, 240, T), and Troy Carter (6-3, 235, G).
The remaining tackle slot has been filled by sophomore
John Carroll (6-2, 225), a Potomac State transfer, who is
backed up by sophomore Dave Nowicki (6-3,228). Round
ing out the front will be sophomore tight end Darrell
Huggins who demonstrated his catching ability in spring
drills.
"Our only shift in the line has been the switching of
Barry Swanson from tackle to replace Mark Swiatek at
center, while Swiatek has moved to the tackle spot,"
offered Creehan. "Barry will help us at center because he is

quicker and Mark is a more effective tackle because of his
size," he continued.
Hrovat, on the strength of his spectacular debut has
won the signal calling nod with letter winning junior Larry
Wheeler waiting in the wings. Hrovat hit on 21 of 44 tosses
in his three appearances for 289 yeards.
Ready to ramble once again in the backfield is ESC's
leading ground gainer, fullback Keith Collier. The 5-10,
180-pound junior churned up 764 yards of real estate last
fall and netted a highly respectable 5.0 yards per carry
average. Joining him will be junior halfbacks Mitchell Kelly
(6-0,200) and Ron Rankin (6-0,190), who Creehan feels is
the best blocking back in the conference. Sophomore Joe
Catalano, noted as the fastest athlete on this year's squad,
will see plenty of relief duty.
Conning off brilliant rookie debuts are a pair of wide
receivers who struck like lightning after they broke into the
lineup. Sophs Eric Bosley and Gary McKnight will take
turns testing secondaries and continually pose a threat in
the "long bomb" department.
Making the Scots offensive prowess doubly dangerous
is record breaking placekicker Rich Ruszkiewicz, the team's
leading scorer with 50 points from his toe. After tying his
own ESC mark with a 47-yard field goal in 1981, the left
footed booter toppled another personal standard with his
12 three-pointers in one season and will be aiming to
extend his school record of 29 career field goals.
One of the nation's best defenses against the rush last
fall that yielded only 83 yards per game lost its top two
tacklers in All-American linebacker Bob Cicerchi and AllEast tackle Ron Link. "You just can't go and replace quality
people like that," reflected Creehan. "We do, however have
a solid nucleus for our defense which is built around some
very good athletes."
A pair of regulars will be joined by a trio of newcomers

to form the Scots forward five. Back to battle in the trenches
are juniors Bob Beauregard (6-2, 215 E), Rick Rosenburg
(6-2, 240, DT), and Steve Butler (603, 220, E). While soph
standout Rick Jordan (6-2, 212) has worked himself into
the starting right tackle job. Juniors, Phil Giavasis (6-0,
205, E) and John 0*Rorke(5-11,215, MG) are listed in front
of returning vets at their respective positions after spring
practice.
Edinboro State opponents will most likely experiment
with their running game first against the Scot defense
which has five new faces in the heart of its 5-2 alignment.
Teaming with the three newcomers in the front line are
linebackers Jim Durkin (5-11,215, Jr) and Willie Chealey
(5-11, 192, So), who have the monumental task of filling
crucial spots vacated by seniors.
The most solid part of the ESC defense is found in the
secondary where three starters return among a crop of
eight defensive backs who helped tie a school mark twice
with five interceptions in a game and pilfer a highly
respectable 23 enemy aerials on the year.
The unit is spearheaded by strong safety Greg Rose
(5-10,180, Jr) who picked off five passes on the year. "You
couldn't ask for much more out of a defensive back than
what Greg possesses," summed Creehan. "He's quick,
strong and smart."
Two more juniors join Rose in the secondary with Mike
Emge manning one of the corners and Dave Parker

returning to his free safety spot. Sophomore Matt Robin
son, who Creehan tags "an awesome talent," will fill the
other cornerback slot. Emge, along with senior cornerback
Scott Lowery, the first back-up in the secondary, registered
three interceptions apiece during the 1981 campaign.
Destined to see playing time are three more young vets
who helped police passes in junior letter winners Dan
Gierlak and Bob Gerthoffer along with sophomore Mike
Hawley. The combination of talent and experience offered
by this group should give the Scots its strongest suit in
defense.
In addition to his band of 38 Fighting Scot lettermen,
Creehan is quick to give credit to his coaches, too. "I now
have the most complete staff I've ever had," said the
fourth-year mentor who recently added offensive specialist
John D'Ottavio and past ESC all-time great, Jim Romaniszyn to the fold. "They will play pivotal roles in our
season," he added.
In spite of a challenging ten-game 1982 schedule
which features PC champion and NCAA semi-finalist
Shippensburg State along with a vastly improved Western
Division pitting Edinboro against such arch rivals as
Slippery Rock, Clarion, and Indiana, Creehan is still
cautiously optimistic. His youngsters have already gotten a
quick jump on the old adage and proven that they are
rapidly "improving with age."

ESC STAFF PACKED WITH PROFESSIONALS
MALEN LUKE - Defensive Backs
Entering his second year in the Edinboro State
coaching ranks is Malen Luke who will groom ESC's
veteran secondary and also serve as special teams'
coordinator. The Greenville, Ohio, native began his gridiron
career carrying the football for Wellsboro (Pa.) High School
where in 1971 he was named offensive back of the year in
addition to being tabbed as the league's MVP. Malen
continued his football exploits as a defensive back at
Westminster College and was a two-year letter winner for
the Titans despite being hampered by injuries during his
freshman and senior seasons. After graduation in 1976
with a B.S. degree in mathematics, he was appointed
offensive coordinator for Canfield High School in Canfield,
Ohio. In his very first season, Canfield led the entire
Buckeye state in scoring by totaling 423 points in ten
games. Under his direction in 1980, Canfield scored at a 23
points-per-game clip while netting 301 yards per outing in
total offense. Malen, who received a master's degree in
guidance and student personnel at ESC earlier this year,
resides in Edinboro with his wife, Hedy.

ference where he started as a player at East Stroudsburg in
1966. The Roxbury, New Jersey native was a first team
all-state quarterback at Roxbury High and captained the
team in a 7-2 senior year. A knee injury in his second year
at East Stroudsburg ended his playing career but launched
him into a brilliant coaching future after graduation in
1970. He became an assistant coach at Randolph High

the famed Tubby Raymond. During his two years with the
Blue Hens they went 9-3-1 and 8-2 while winning a berth
in the NCAA playoffs. The Nevv Jersey product spent 1978
as the offensive coordinator on a 5-3 Tufts University squad
before accepting a similar post at Gettysburg in 1979. In his
three-year stint with the Bullets he was the architect of a
wing-T attack that established Jlls new offensive records
while Gettysburg posted respective 5-5, 6-3-1 and 6-4

sharing the expertise gained through six years of coaching
high school football players in both Ohio and Pennsylvania.
After being awarded a B.S. degree in special education
from Millersville in 1975, Mike returned to the West Mifflin
area where he had earned a pair of varsity letters at West
Mifflin North while playing both guard and linebacker. He
spent a three-year coaching stint at North before accepting
a post as defensive coordinator for Madison Plains High in
London, Ohio, where he was named head coach in 1980.
Already the recipient of his M.Ed. in sports science from
Ashland College, Mike recently received a degree in
secondary school administration from Edinboro. He and his
wife, Cheryl, make their home in Edinboro.

physical education, he returned to the Empire state to
accept a teaching and coaching position at Clinton Central
High School. During his three-year stint as offensive line
coach, Clinton posted an overall 19-5 record including a
1979 Tri-Valley League championship via a 7-1 finish
which also landed Coach of the Year laurels for DeStefano.
Pete, who received a master's degree in school adminis
tration from Edinboro this past spring, lives in the Millcreek
area along with his wife, Joanne.
JIM BOWEN - Kickers
Returning to the Scot staff after a two-year absence is
Jim Bowen who enters his 13th season at Edinboro in the
capacity of a kicking coach. Bowen has coached practically
every phase of the game and helped shape outstanding

collegaite careers for numerous Fighting Scot stars. He has
tutored linebackers Jim Krentz and Greg Sullivan, the top
two tacklers in ESC history, in additon to serving as
backfield coach for such Boro greats as Joe Sanford, Jim
Romaniszyn, Al Raines and Bob Mengerink. In 1975 he
was offensive coordinator when the Scots finished 12th
nationally in total offense. In his 10 years prior to Joining
the Scot staff, as Fairview High's head coach he amassed
an amazing 76-12 football record. His teams captured four
league championships. The knowledgeable Scot coach
graduated from Slippery Rock in 1957 and earned his
master's degree from Buffalo University. The Girard
resident and his wife, Joyce, have seven children, two of
whom are twin girls.
JIM ROMANISZYN - Running Backs
After serving as a highly successful basketball coach at
Erie's McDowell High School for the past three years and
playing five seasons in the NFL, Jim Romaniszyn returns to
his alma mater to help coach the Scots offense backs. The
Titusville, Pa. product directed McDowell to three con
secutive outstanding cage seasons on the strength of 26-5,
21-7 and 22-9 records. The 1973 ESC grad spent most of
his collegiate career setting records on the Scots most
successful football teams in history. An All-American
running back, Romaniszyn is the only Edinboro player to
ever eclipse the 1,0(X)-yard mark in both rushing (1,266)
and pass receiving (1,088). The Scot standout, also has the
distinction of being Edinboro's first pro pick when he was
selected in the 1973 draft by the Cleveland Browns.
Romaniszyn beat the odds by making the team at a
linebacker slot and also captained Cleveland's specialty

ALL-TIMB SCORES 1926-1981

1926 when Edinboro became a four-year degree granting
institution and for the first time played a complete inter

institutions.

Prior to the 1926 season, Edinboro was a state normal
school and did not play a complete intercollegiate schedule.
Therefore, any records prior to that season should not be
considered as part of the intercollegiate football history of
Edinboro State College.
