CAMPUS NEWS
Arrangements have been made for
showing the great Elson Art Exhib-
it at Slippery Rock on November 13-
15. This exhibit contains over two
hundred large carbon photographs,
photogravures, or color prints of the
great masterpieces of the world in
architecture, sculpture and printing,
as well as many exceptionally beau-
tiful natural scenes.
The exhibition will be a source of
both pleasure and profit to all who
see it.
We are glad to welcome Miss Mab-
el Dean back to Slippery Rock and to
find her assisting our ‘very charm-
ing” librarains.
Miss McKay and Miss Brooks
spent the week end in Pittsburgh
shopping and attending the theater.
Miss Saylor and the student teach-
ers are busy installing a library in
the Training School. It will be ready
for use in the near future. This
will be a gfireat benefit to the stu-
dents, and no doubt will be greatly
appreciated by them.
Mr. Allison attended the Chicora
Encampment on Tuesday evening,
October 14th, where, as district dep-
uty Grand Patriarch of Butler Coun-
ty, he installed officers of the Chi-
cora Encampment.
Dr. Waldron motored to Greenville
Thursday afternoon to interview the
Biology instructor of Thiel College in
regard to plans for a field trip to the
mountaing of Forest County. Dr.
Waldron is to be accompanied on this
trip by his Extension Class wnich he
is conducting every Wednesday eve-
ning at Youngstown, O. Of course
they will find many interesting spe-
cimens, but at present their chief
hope is to see bears and wild cats.
Prof. 1. C. Williams is giving valu-
able assistance to Dr. Waldron in the
collection of different kinds of wood
for the museum.
Material has been ordered for the
display of edible and poisonous
mushrooms. This should be of much

interest to the students since many
enjoy mushrooms but are not suffi-
ciently familiar with the different
kinds to be able to determine Which
is to be eaten.
Arthur Prasse is on the injured
list, having received a broken ankle
in football practice.
Birthdays are in style, at least
among the faculty. Dr. Hamm ob-
served his on Tuesday of last week,
and Miss Elliott’s was celebrated on
the following day We wonder who
is next on the list.

Miss Florence Watkins of Wood-
lawn spent last week end with Grace
McAllister of North Hall.
Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Caldwell of
Pittsburgh and Mrs. Della Tillbrook
of Wilkinsburg spent Sunday with
Miss Jessie Batley.
Miss Mildred Eaton was called
home last week on account of the
sudden death of her mother, Mrs. D.
C. Eaton of Bellevue.
Miss Bowman reports that the
book sale in the book room is pretty
good. Take all your extra pennies
and nickels and secure more knowl-
edge.
Several members of the faculty
gave a surprise birthday dinner in
the Eisenberg’s dining room, Wed-
nesday evening, October 15, for Miss
Elliott. An enjoyable evening was
spent in eating and being sociable.
Dr. and Mrs. Smith and Mr. and
Mrs. Hollinger of West Chester Nor-
mal School visited here October 14.
Dr. Smith is Principal of the West
Chester Normal School, and Mr. Hol-
linger is the Bursar of that Normal
School.

visited the Eisenberg’s Tuesday, Oct.
14th on their way to Cleveland.
Mrs. Buckwalter is a niece of Dr.
Eisenberg’s.
On Wednesday, Oct. 22, we enjoy-
ed a visit from Dr. Wm. Robinson,
Rural School Specialist in the depart-
ment of Education at Washington.
He spoke to the student body dur-
ing chape] period and visited the
school for the day.
Myr. Crawford, principal of Edin-
boro Normal School, and Mrs. Craw-
ford, visited Dr. and Mrs. Eisenberg
on Oct. 18 and enjoyed the football
game between the two schools, which
was played on that date.
Mr. Cottrell is carrying on an ex-
tension course in Health and Hygiene
at Turtle Creek every Tuesday eve-
ning. The classes are held in the pub-
lic school.
