- - - - Head Coach
Sue Hibbs
Sue Hibbs has been at the helm of the Bloomsburg University
women's basketball team for the last nine years while compiling
a 71-95 record. Entering her tenth season, Hibbs will look to
improve upon last season's 6-17 mark. The Huskies started the
season in fine fashion with a 3-1 record and the lmmaculata
Tournament crown but a knee injury in the sixth game to Jean
Millen, the school's all-time leading scorer, hurt the team. Millen
missed the remainder of the season and the team struggled to a
3-14 mark after her injury. Millen, a senior, is expected to return
to the lineup this season.
Hibbs' best season as a head coach came in 1975-76 when she
led Bloomsburg to an 11-2 record while filling in for Joanne McComb. She also took the team to a fourth place finish in the
Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women
(EAIAW) Invitational.
Hibbs graduated from Western Kentucky University with a
Bachelor of Science degree and received her Masters Degree
from East Stroudsburg, both in Health and Physical Education.
She coached Berlin (NH) High School to a 40-16 record in four
seasons and took them to the State Tournament three of
those years. She was also a graduate assistant at East Stroudsburg
before coming to Bloomsburg.
- - - - Assistant Coach
Dolly Anderson
Dolly Anderson begins her second season as an assistant
women's basketball coach at Bloomsburg University. She will
be coordinating and instructing the BU defensive scheme and
helping with other aspects of the program.
Anderson graduated from Old Dominion University. There
she played on the championship team of the National Women's
Invitational Tournament will al-Americans Nancy Liberman and
Inge Nissen her senior year after transferring from lmmaculata
College. While at lmmaculata, Anderson's teams were two-time
runners-up to the national champs. She was co-captain of the
ODU squad along with Liberman, and averaged 11 points and
14 rebounds a game.
Anderson received her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology at Old Dominion.

- - - • Season Outlook - - - •
Bloomsburg University's women's basketball team enters the
1985-86 season with seven players returning from a year ago.
However, injuries caused only four of those players to see any
extensive playing time. The school's all-time leading scorer,
Jean Millen, returns after suffering a severe knee injury in the
sixth game of 1985. However, she may not see any action until
January. Also, junior guards Pam Bressi and Lori Pisco return
from injuries that kept them out of uniform for the entire year.
Leading the group of survivors from a season ago is Linda King,
the team's top scorer with an 11.8 point per game average. She
teamed with first year performer Carla Shearer, 9.2 points a contest, to make the BU backcourt one of the bright spots during
last year's 6-17 season. After a 3-1 start, BU faltered to a 3-16
finish following a rush of injuries. King is expected to move to
a forward spot in 1985-86 to make room for the return of Bressi,
who averaged 2.1 points per game in 22 of 25 contests her
freshman year.
Joining King in the front court, providing her knee is back to full
strength, will be Millen, the team's lone senior. Millen averaged
18.5 points and 15.8 rebounds a game in six contests before
her injury. With 933 career points prior to the season, Millen
is the school's all-time scoring leader while also holding numerous other BU records. In 1983-84, she averaged 15.6 rebounds
and 20.7 points a game, both of which ranked her among the
best Division 11 players in the country. Co-captains Millen and
King, who is the 13th best scorer in BU history as a junior, look
to make the BU front court a potent offensive weapon.
Sophomore Amy Wolf returns for herfirst season as the Huskies'
full time center. She split her freshman year between the center
and forward positions while averaging 7.4 points and 7.0 rebounds. Wolf was forced to learn under pressure by being thrust
into the lineup due to the numerous injuries suffered by Hibbs'
squad.
Standout recruit Theresa Lorenzi is expected to make a major
contribution to the team and could see lots of action early in
the year if Millen's knee is not healed completely. Out of West
Hazleton H.S., Lorenzi was Pennsylvania's top schoolgirl scorer
in her senior year, averaging 29.5 points.
Returnee Susan Kocher will provide some solid depth at the
forward position. Kocher was another of the players pressed
into service due to the injury situation. She averaged 1.9 points
and 2.4 rebounds in 13 games. Kocher is one of many two-sport
athletes on the Bloomsburg roster.
Transfers Maureen Duffy (West Virginia) and Lynn Van Nort
(Marywood) as well as freshman Jennifer Griffis should help
bolster the Husky front court. Freshman Lisa Egry and Wendy
Lupashunski will provide the forwards with some much needed
rest as the season progresses.
With only one player taller than 5-9, the Huskies will rely on
a speed-oriented offense and a quick, trapping/pressing defense to cancel a height disadvantage against many opponents.
Although employing a fast-break offensive strategy, Hibbs expects this year's offense to show more control than a year ago,
due in part to the experience of Shearer and Bressi.
The abilities of King and Millen in the front court, along with
Wolf's year of experience and the addition of Lorenzi, should
give the Huskies balanced scoring potential.
Staying free of injuries and using their speed to their advantage
could help make the Huskies a sleeper in the Pennsylvania
Conference Eastern Division race.

Nelson Fieldhouse
"Home Of The Huskies"
The Nelson Fieldhouse, located on Bloomsburg University's upper
campus, serves as home for most of BU's athletic events. The facility has
all the necessary ingredients as it holds a 3000 seat arena for all home
wrestling and basketball games, an indoor track, two tennis courts, an
olympic size swimming pool, and two handball/racquetball courts.
The building has cla~sroom and office space for use by the health/physical
education and athletic staffs. Nelson also houses the wrestling practice
room, which is a fully padded area located on the second floor. A totally
equipped Nautilus weight room adds to the strength and conditioning
areas of the program, and Nelson also offers a training room staffed by
a full-time physical therapist and no less than six student assistants. Also
an equipment manager handles the needs of most of Bloomsburg's 18
varsity athletic teams.
Head Trainer
Art Hopkins
Art is in his third year as the Head
Trainer at Bloomsburg. He is a licensed
Physical Therapist (LPT) and received
his certificate from Hahneman Hospital
in Philadelphia and his undergraduate
degree at East Stroudsburg.
Equipment Manager
Ron Morgan
Mr. Ron Morgan has served as Bloomsburg's equipment manager for the past
twelve years. Ron is located in the
Nelson Fieldhouse and handles most
of the equipment needs of BU's 18
varsity programs.
