Managers: BILL O'DONNELL, DENNIS SNYDER
SEASON'S OUTLOOK
Facing perhaps the strongest schedule in the history of
the college, the Huskies are in a rebuilding year following
a successful 1974-75 campaign in which they recorded an
11-3-1 dual season record, placed second in the Pennsylvania Conference, fourth at the Millersville Open, fifth at
the Wilkes Open, and seventh in the National Collegiate
Athletic Association's Division II tournament.
In addition to the Pennsylvania Conference, considered
by Amateur Wrestling News to be one of the toughest
small college conferences in the nation, Bloomsburg will
compete in NCAA Division I this year, which includes
major colleges and universities, and has joined the new
Eastern Wrestling League.
The Eastern Wrestling League, consisting of Clarion,
Buffalo, Penn State, Lock Haven, Pitt, and BSC, promises
to provide wrestling fans with some outstanding action.
The League tournament at Penn State on February 27-28
will serve as the qualifier for NCAA Division I tournament
in Tucson, Arizona March 11-12-13.
BSC has the honor of hosting the Pennsylvania Conference Tournament on February 20-21 following the dual
meet season which includes such national powers as Navy,
Penn State, Pitt, Slippery Rock, Montclair State, and Clarion among others. The Wilkes Open, Bucknell Invitational,
and University of Delaware Invitational are also on the
schedule.
Outstanding performers from last year's squad who
have graduated include senior co-captains Randy Watts
(142 and 150 lbs.) and Dan Burkholder 1167 and 177 lbs.)
along with Matt Tydor (158, 167, and 190 lbs.). Watts was
a NCAA national champion in Division II, placed sixth in
LEADING PERFORMERS
JIM DAVIS is a junior from Harvey's
Lake, Lake Lehman High School,
where he excelled in both wrestling
and track. The past two seasons Jim
has been a steady performer behind
Tom Fink (who is redshirting) with a
J.V. record of 10-0. This summer he
wrestled very well and won many
tournaments. He looks forward to
being in the varsity line-up.
126 lbs.
DEXTER DERR, one of last year's
freshman varsity performers who
shared duty at 118 with a 5-2 record.
Dexter is a Liberal Arts major from
Levittown who will probably move
up one weight this year. He is a defending Keystone Junior College Invitational champion and a point winner in the NCAA II National Championships. Dexter led the team in
number of reversals.
,.
..
NCAA Division I, and was a two-time Pennsylvania Conference champion. Burkholder was a Wilkes Open champion and placed secorrd in PC competition . The versatile
Tydor received All-American recognition by placing fifth
in the NCAA Division II tournament.
Returning lettermen Charles Carter (158 lbs.), Dexter
Derr (118 and 126 lbs.), Carl Poff (126 and 134 lbs.), Steve
Scheib (177 and 190 lbs.), and Mike Snyder (177 and 190
lbs.), will lead the young Huskies into the annual mat battles. Among the freshmen and sophomores expected to
battle for starting positions are Jim Davis (118 lbs.), Kevin
Schuck (118 lbs.), Bill Kaercher (134 lbs.), Tony Caravella
(142 lbs.), Dan Lechner (150 lbs.), Chris Poff (158 lbs.), Andy
Cappelli (167 lbs.), Jim Hohmann (167 lbs.), and Giustino
DiMarco (heavyweight).
"If the Huskies are able to overcome their inexperience,
BSC will have another good wrestling campaign," states
Coach Roger Sanders.
LEADING PERFORMERS
134 lbs.
BILL KAERCHER, a sophomore from
Council Rock High School, will probably split the duties at 134 and 142
pounds. As a freshman, Bill compiled
a 7-2 record. He will add valuable
points and depth to 01Jr wrestling
program. Bill possesses great knowledge and potential. The coaching
staff feels that how Bill goes, our
team will go.
TONY CARA VELLA, a freshman from
Brick Township High School in New
Jersey, will see action in the 134
pound weight class and the 142
pound class. As a senior in high
school, Tony was a 4th place finisher
in the New Jersey State Championships. During the summer following
his senior year he represented New
142 lbs.
Jersey in the United States Wrestling
Federation National Championships.
Tony, a Liberal Arts major, has the potential to be one of
the outstanding wrestlers in Bloomsburg history.
DAN LECHNER, a freshman accounting major from Saucon Valley High
School, was a two-time Pennsylvania
State qualifier. He brings an overall
record of 60-9-3 to Bloomsburg. Dan
has a tremendous background which
should be a tremendous asset to the
wrestling program.
150 lbs.
LEADING PERFORMERS
151 lbs.
CHRIS POFF, a sophomore from
Council Rock High School, possesses
tremendous natural ability and knowledge to be a champion. In high
school, Chris had a great career. His
senior year was culminated by making the Pennsylvania team at the
United States Wrestling Federation
Championships, and placed 5th in
the freestyle competition. Chris is a
real technician who should delight
area wrestling fans in the next three
years.
JIM HOHMANN, a senior from Pearl
River, New York, has been preparing
for the 1975-76 wrestling season
since last March. After a very disappointing junior year, Jim is making
an all out effort to pull everything
together for his last season of competition. Jim is a Dean's list student
majoring in history.
1671bs.
ANDY CAPPELLI, a liberal Arts major
from Conestoga High School compiled an overall record of 41 wins
and 6 losses. He was a state qualifier his senior year. This past summer,
Andy participated in a USA-Canadian exchange meet. Andy's ability
and desire to succeed should make
him a very exciting performer.
167 lbs.
177 ltn.
CHARLES "CHICKEE" CARTER, a junior elementary major from Conestoga
High School, has matured as a college wrestler. For the past two years,
"Chic" has been our most exciting
wrestler. This year should not be any
different. His third place finish in the
Conference Championship meet and
his 50-10-4 record should definitely
be improved upon.
MIKE SNYDER earned a varsity
award as a freshman, wrestling at
190 and heavyweight. He had a 6-6
record. Mike is an accounting major
from Tyrone and is enrolled in the
School of Business.
190 lbs.

"
STEVE SCHEIB, "the outstanding
freshman wrestler" of 1974-75 is
looking forward to this wrestling
season with anticipation of great
things to come. Last year Steve compiled an overall record of 22-5-1, a
second place finish in the Pennsylvania Conference, and 3rd in the
NCAA Division II Championships.
190 lbs.
Last year Steve led the team in reversals with 11, and pins with 6. He
also scored the most team points-56. Steve possesses
tremendous abilit)' and the desire to win. He is a potential NCAA place winner.
GIUSTINO DiMARCO (TINO), a 270
pound freshman business major from
Conestoga High School, had an
overall record of 54 wins and 10
losses. Last year Tino lost in the Semifinals of the PIAA State Wrestling
Tournament. He was co-captain of
his team and was voted by his teammates as the most valuable wrestler.
Heavyweight
Tino participated in the Canada-USA
exchange meet this past summer.
Tine's agility and balance coupled with an excellent background could make him one of the outstanding heavyweights in the East.

SEASON'S OUTLOOK
Facing perhaps the strongest schedule in the history of
the college, the Huskies are in a rebuilding year following
a successful 1974-75 campaign in which they recorded an
11-3-1 dual season record, placed second in the Pennsylvania Conference, fourth at the Millersville Open, fifth at
the Wilkes Open, and seventh in the National Collegiate
Athletic Association's Division II tournament.
In addition to the Pennsylvania Conference, considered
by Amateur Wrestling News to be one of the toughest
small college conferences in the nation, Bloomsburg will
compete in NCAA Division I this year, which includes
major colleges and universities, and has joined the new
Eastern Wrestling League.
The Eastern Wrestling League, consisting of Clarion,
Buffalo, Penn State, Lock Haven, Pitt, and BSC, promises
to provide wrestling fans with some outstanding action.
The League tournament at Penn State on February 27-28
will serve as the qualifier for NCAA Division I tournament
in Tucson, Arizona March 11-12-13.
BSC has the honor of hosting the Pennsylvania Conference Tournament on February 20-21 following the dual
meet season which includes such national powers as Navy,
Penn State, Pitt, Slippery Rock, Montclair State, and Clarion among others. The Wilkes Open, Bucknell Invitational,
and University of Delaware Invitational are also on the
schedule.
Outstanding performers from last year's squad who
have graduated include senior co-captains Randy Watts
(142 and 150 lbs.) and Dan Burkholder 1167 and 177 lbs.)
along with Matt Tydor (158, 167, and 190 lbs.). Watts was
a NCAA national champion in Division II, placed sixth in
LEADING PERFORMERS
JIM DAVIS is a junior from Harvey's
Lake, Lake Lehman High School,
where he excelled in both wrestling
and track. The past two seasons Jim
has been a steady performer behind
Tom Fink (who is redshirting) with a
J.V. record of 10-0. This summer he
wrestled very well and won many
tournaments. He looks forward to
being in the varsity line-up.
126 lbs.
DEXTER DERR, one of last year's
freshman varsity performers who
shared duty at 118 with a 5-2 record.
Dexter is a Liberal Arts major from
Levittown who will probably move
up one weight this year. He is a defending Keystone Junior College Invitational champion and a point winner in the NCAA II National Championships. Dexter led the team in
number of reversals.
,.
..
NCAA Division I, and was a two-time Pennsylvania Conference champion. Burkholder was a Wilkes Open champion and placed secorrd in PC competition . The versatile
Tydor received All-American recognition by placing fifth
in the NCAA Division II tournament.
Returning lettermen Charles Carter (158 lbs.), Dexter
Derr (118 and 126 lbs.), Carl Poff (126 and 134 lbs.), Steve
Scheib (177 and 190 lbs.), and Mike Snyder (177 and 190
lbs.), will lead the young Huskies into the annual mat battles. Among the freshmen and sophomores expected to
battle for starting positions are Jim Davis (118 lbs.), Kevin
Schuck (118 lbs.), Bill Kaercher (134 lbs.), Tony Caravella
(142 lbs.), Dan Lechner (150 lbs.), Chris Poff (158 lbs.), Andy
Cappelli (167 lbs.), Jim Hohmann (167 lbs.), and Giustino
DiMarco (heavyweight).
"If the Huskies are able to overcome their inexperience,
BSC will have another good wrestling campaign," states
Coach Roger Sanders.
LEADING PERFORMERS
134 lbs.
BILL KAERCHER, a sophomore from
Council Rock High School, will probably split the duties at 134 and 142
pounds. As a freshman, Bill compiled
a 7-2 record. He will add valuable
points and depth to 01Jr wrestling
program. Bill possesses great knowledge and potential. The coaching
staff feels that how Bill goes, our
team will go.
TONY CARA VELLA, a freshman from
Brick Township High School in New
Jersey, will see action in the 134
pound weight class and the 142
pound class. As a senior in high
school, Tony was a 4th place finisher
in the New Jersey State Championships. During the summer following
his senior year he represented New
142 lbs.
Jersey in the United States Wrestling
Federation National Championships.
Tony, a Liberal Arts major, has the potential to be one of
the outstanding wrestlers in Bloomsburg history.
DAN LECHNER, a freshman accounting major from Saucon Valley High
School, was a two-time Pennsylvania
State qualifier. He brings an overall
record of 60-9-3 to Bloomsburg. Dan
has a tremendous background which
should be a tremendous asset to the
wrestling program.
150 lbs.
LEADING PERFORMERS
151 lbs.
CHRIS POFF, a sophomore from
Council Rock High School, possesses
tremendous natural ability and knowledge to be a champion. In high
school, Chris had a great career. His
senior year was culminated by making the Pennsylvania team at the
United States Wrestling Federation
Championships, and placed 5th in
the freestyle competition. Chris is a
real technician who should delight
area wrestling fans in the next three
years.
JIM HOHMANN, a senior from Pearl
River, New York, has been preparing
for the 1975-76 wrestling season
since last March. After a very disappointing junior year, Jim is making
an all out effort to pull everything
together for his last season of competition. Jim is a Dean's list student
majoring in history.
1671bs.
ANDY CAPPELLI, a liberal Arts major
from Conestoga High School compiled an overall record of 41 wins
and 6 losses. He was a state qualifier his senior year. This past summer,
Andy participated in a USA-Canadian exchange meet. Andy's ability
and desire to succeed should make
him a very exciting performer.
167 lbs.
177 ltn.
CHARLES "CHICKEE" CARTER, a junior elementary major from Conestoga
High School, has matured as a college wrestler. For the past two years,
"Chic" has been our most exciting
wrestler. This year should not be any
different. His third place finish in the
Conference Championship meet and
his 50-10-4 record should definitely
be improved upon.
MIKE SNYDER earned a varsity
award as a freshman, wrestling at
190 and heavyweight. He had a 6-6
record. Mike is an accounting major
from Tyrone and is enrolled in the
School of Business.
190 lbs.

"
STEVE SCHEIB, "the outstanding
freshman wrestler" of 1974-75 is
looking forward to this wrestling
season with anticipation of great
things to come. Last year Steve compiled an overall record of 22-5-1, a
second place finish in the Pennsylvania Conference, and 3rd in the
NCAA Division II Championships.
190 lbs.
Last year Steve led the team in reversals with 11, and pins with 6. He
also scored the most team points-56. Steve possesses
tremendous abilit)' and the desire to win. He is a potential NCAA place winner.
GIUSTINO DiMARCO (TINO), a 270
pound freshman business major from
Conestoga High School, had an
overall record of 54 wins and 10
losses. Last year Tino lost in the Semifinals of the PIAA State Wrestling
Tournament. He was co-captain of
his team and was voted by his teammates as the most valuable wrestler.
Heavyweight
Tino participated in the Canada-USA
exchange meet this past summer.
Tine's agility and balance coupled with an excellent background could make him one of the outstanding heavyweights in the East.
