Officers i nstalled
at Senate meeting
By JULIE BRENNAN
First on the agenda for the
December l^t Senate meeting
was the installment of the SCC
Executive Committee officers.
The newly elected officials
sworn into office are: President, Mike Hanna; First
Vice-president, Jayne Bolduc;
Second Vice-President, Jack
Sohnleitner Treasurer, Joe
Harper; Recording Secretary,
Sue Daum; and Corresponding
Secretary, Mary Walsh. Mike
Hanna appointed Rick Mather
to the position of Pariimentarian for the SCC. Mather will
replace Phil Burlingame, who
was the former Pariimentarian
in the Mock administration.
The next line of business
was a report from Jeff
Caulkins, chairperson of the
Election Committee. Caulkins
stated that the voting date for
the Senator elections will be
Tuesday, December 7fi-om11
am - 6 pm in the Bentley Hall
Lounge, and 11 am - 3 pm in
the PUB.
Ten Senate positions are
available to be filled. Petitions
will be accepted until today at
3pm.
With the installment of new
officers, three additional positions for SCC Senator became
available, one in McEntire,
one in Russell and one
off-campus. The election for the
three new positions will not be
until after Christmas break
because of the need to
publicize the event.
Instead of adjourning the
Senate meeting in the
traditional manner, the Senate
voted to resess until the school
re-opens in January. The
purpose of this is to allow the
Senate Appropriations Committee (SAC) election to take
place with a full Senate. The
Constitution requires that SAC

Money exists
for students
without aid
By TERRY CORNELIUS
There are many sources of
extra money available to
students to help them with the
financial strain of college. The
only thing required is a little
time taken to fill out certain
applications.
According to Mr. Bryan Van

Director, over three quarters
of a million dollars are being
used by Lock Haven students
this year through financial aid
programs. The three basic
forms available are grants or
scholarships, loans, and part
time employment

Applications available in Smith
Applications for student
counselor positions are now
available from the Student Life
Office in Smith Hall.
The application form is
relatively easy to fill out but
students should note, that if
they are interested in a
position for next semester,
applications must be picked
up, filled out, and returned by
December 8, 1976.
Also, Ms. Nancy Meacheam
noted that some of the main
problems with being a
counselor are : counselors
must come early at the
beginning of a semester to
open the dorms and also after
breaks, they must have dorm
duty which involves staying in
the dorm from 6 pm till 7 am
the next morning on a rotating
basis and they must provide
discipline for students who get
out of line, even if those
students are friends.
Counselors are paid by way
of free room and board. If they
wish to have a single room
they must pay the extra the
same as any other student.
So, if you're a person who
enjoys helping others, drop
over to Smith Hall and pick up
an application.

though they are more openly
presenting themselves to society. He said they must deny
themselves and lie in order to
protect themselves and their
families.
Ms. Cooper started her talk
by showing slides depicting
how people used to touch each
other in poems from books
printed at the turn of the century. When questions arose
from the audience as to what
she was trying to prove from
the slides Ms. Cooper hurried
the slides up and never finished them. She then started a
question and answer period
during which many heated arguments developed.
An
especially heated argument
developed when Ms. Cooper
tried to tell the audience that
homosexuality was what the

Zeppelin fans will find
new movie to be a must
By DEB KERNER
Staff Reporter
After reading numerous
reviews all of which panned
the movie, I expected Led
Zeppelin's venture into the
cinema with their The Song
Remains The Same to be a
boring, mind boggling, totally
abstract, and confusing flick.
Instead I was left with the
opposite effect and for the
most part 1 enjoyed the film.
The film is a must if you're
really into the musical
perfection of Zepplin. If you
are turned on by machoism
which is personified by lead
singer Robert Plant you'll love
the movie.
If you're expecting a story
with plot and meaning you
won't find it in The Song
Remains The Same. The major
portion of the two and a half
hour production consists of
live concert footage shot at the
Madison Square Garden during Led Zeppelin's 1973 tour.
The concert footage is
interspersed with elaborate
fantasy sequences which were
designed to project the
group's individual personalities and the particular
meanings that specific songs
hold for each member.
In this sense the critics are
partially right in claiming tha
the film is extremely individualistic and egotistic. I don't
think this can be avoided
however when you consider
that you are dealing in
personalities and individual
reactions.
The fantasy sequences
offered are by far some of the
most attractive visual effects.
The cinamatography is absolutely stunning as it provides
some truly magnificent and
majestic shots of the English,
Scottish, and Welsh countrysides.

Grapplers capture 300th
bi-competition victory
History was made at Thomas Field House Wednesday night
as the Bald Eagles whipped Youngstown State 38-9, thus gaining
their 300th duel victory. In 38 years of varsity wrestiing. Bald
Eagle wrestling teams have compiled an amazing record of
300-80-7. The record 300th win coming in this Cox's eighth year
as head coach. The duel matching LHS and youngstown was an
exciting match filled with tough yet slick wrestling. The Bald
Eagle squad showed a potent combination of muscle and slick as
they crunched their opponents one by one.
Haven Gets Oft to a Quick Start!
The opening bouts of the
evening saw fine wrestiing displayed by LHS lightweights. 118
pound Gary Uram outslicked, outshined, and then proceeded to
put the lights out on his Youngstown opponent. Uram decked YSU
Gordon Myer in the second. This is Gary's second pin of the
season (Way to go Yacky!) LHS veteran 126 pounder Sean Ahern
then went out and reversed Youngstown State's Dan Dinger to a

At 134 Capt. Tim McCamely of Philipsburg Faced Youngstown's toughest wrestler. Don Hernan capt. of Youngstown has
lost only a handful of bouts total in high school and college. Both
capt's squared off for battle as the whistle blew. "Mac " barrel
rolled Hernan for a 2 point takedown and rode him out the entire
first period. Misfortune then hit the lhs wrestier as he was hit with
a techinical violation. This same techinical violation was to puzzle
Coach Cox and haven fans throughout the night. Hernan reversed
Mac and made the score 3-2. Riding him out the second. However
the inspired McCamely was not to be denied as he shot a
spectacular duck under that set the crowd to his feet. Mac added
back points and desplayed a reding show comparable to that of the
greatest rodeo star. Final score: McCamely 8 Hernan 5, a truely
exciting match!
142 pounder Michael Moore added to Haven's total as he
dominated his opponent and pinned him in the 3 rd period.
At 150 capt. George Way whipped Youngstown's Dan
Stilgenbauer 10-2. YS Stilgenbauer was long and tall as his name,
but Way (the Williamsport Wonder) cut him down to size.
The tide turned as two Bald Eagle wrestlers met defeat in
succession. Litho ware was pinned in the 3rd and Jerry Peterman
was decisioned in a squeaker 5-3. With two wins in a row Youngstown State was knocking on the duel victory door.

He is shown working on his

Robert Plant's sequence,

and fanciful as it is filled with
chivalry and beauty. Plant
makes the perfect knightly
romantic type of hero. He sets

be confronted by self-doubt
and the elements of nature.
Jimmy Page's sequence is
one of the best. Set to an
extended but masterful performance of "Dazed and Confused" most of the scene takes
place on stage at the Garden.
Shifts in the pace of the song
are shown by photographic
tricks such as double images of
Page strutting around and his
furious fingerwork. The scene
then changes, repeating the
image from their Stairway to
Heaven album as Page is
shown searching for the truth
within himself. We see Page
making a desperate climb up a
steep mountain as he attempts
to reach the hooded Fathertime figure who represents
truth. Upon reaching the
hermit we see tha the figure is
Page himself, first as an old
man who slowly reverts to
Page as an infant. This starts
the cycle again as Page's
image progressively returns to
the old man figure.

The basic weakness of the

one of it's main objectives and
that was to present Led
Zeppelin as people not just as
the kings of rock and roll
bands. Throughout the movie
we are given very small
glances into the private lives of
the most popular heavy-metal
band existing today. These
scenes consisted of each
member reacting at home with
his wife and children. They
were interesting because a
side of the group was

off-stage scenes however,
failed to bring about any real

be superficial, meaningless,
boring, and obnoxious.

As the end of the semester

was three years ago this month
that we lost Mark in an

Each year at this time, our

Zeppelin fans will find
new movie to be a must
By DEB KERNER
Staff Reporter
After reading numerous
reviews all of which panned
the movie, I expected Led
Zeppelin's venture into the
cinema with their The Song
Remains The Same to be a
boring, mind boggling, totally
abstract, and confusing flick.
Instead I was left with the
opposite effect and for the
most part 1 enjoyed the film.
The film is a must if you're
really into the musical
perfection of Zepplin. If you
are turned on by machoism
which is personified by lead
singer Robert Plant you'll love
the movie.
If you're expecting a story
with plot and meaning you
won't find it in The Song
Remains The Same. The major
portion of the two and a half
hour production consists of
live concert footage shot at the
Madison Square Garden during Led Zeppelin's 1973 tour.
The concert footage is
interspersed with elaborate
fantasy sequences which were
designed to project the
group's individual personalities and the particular
meanings that specific songs
hold for each member.
In this sense the critics are
partially right in claiming tha
the film is extremely individualistic and egotistic. I don't
think this can be avoided
however when you consider
that you are dealing in
personalities and individual
reactions.
The fantasy sequences
offered are by far some of the
most attractive visual effects.
The cinamatography is absolutely stunning as it provides
some truly magnificent and
majestic shots of the English,
Scottish, and Welsh countrysides.

Cardinals and Colts in St. Louis on Saturday shapes up as a
big and interesting game. If the Cardinals lose they're out of the
Play-offs and if Baltimore falls they would be tied with New
England.
My record finnally reaehed the century mark with a 10-4
record last week (101-57).
St. Louis 24 Baltimore 21
This game means more to the Cardinals than to Baltimore.
The Colt's, a shoe-in for tbe playoffs whether first or second in
their division. The toe of Bakken wins the game in the last minute.
Los Angeles 27 Atlanta 10
Los Angeles exploded for 33 points in Colossieum last week
and should tune-up some more against Falcons.
Minnesota 24 Green Bay 6
In this "Black and Blue" Division clash at Frostbite Field,
Minnesota, Green Bay turns blue, not only from the cold, but also
from a heavy loss.
New England 34 New Orleans 21
New England will be ready to pull into a first place tie with
Baltimore by unleashing their powerful offense on the road-poor
Saints.
Washington 24 NY Jets 10
Redskins old men can smell playoff money and a weak team
like the Jets won't upset them.
Detroit 20 NY Giants 10
The lions had 10 days off to get ready for Giants who slipped
by Seattle last week. Lions should get a lot of dancing practice in
the New York end Zone.
DaUa8 20 Philadelphia 3
A loty of college offense's look a lot better than the Eagle's
do. Dallas's only problem might be falling asleep by half-time.
Pittsburgh 35 Tampa Bay 0
This is the mis-match of the year. Tampa Bay's above score is
the amount of wins they will have this year. It also might be the
amount of first-downs they get against the Steelers.
Oeveland 17 Houston 10
Cleveland survived its toughest game the rest of season when
it got by Miami last week. This week will be no breather against
Houston Oilers broke their 6 game losing streak last week.
Miami 17 Buffalo 16
Miami's playing for pride now and a loss to Bills in the
Orange Bowl would really hurt their pride. O.J. should account
for Bills 16 points.
Denver 20 Kansas City 17
Broncos wild-card shot was lost in New England last week.
Could still finish well with two wins. Kansas City a long way off
but should put up decent fight.
San Francisco 27 San Diego 17
The national Television special that Delvin Williams put on
last night should continue in San Diego. Chargers offense will
have a tough time against "The Gold Rush."
Chicago 28 Seattle 10
one of the only easy games on Bears schedule. Walter
"Sweetness" Payton should have big game against Seattle
Seadoves.
Cincinnati 20 Oakland 17
Bengals' don't have to worry about snow in the Bay area.
This is for the play-offs in the Central division.
This is Gary's second pin of the
season (Way to go Yacky!) LHS veteran 126 pounder Sean Ahern
then went out and reversed Youngstown State's Dan Dinger to a
McCamely Was Superb!
Enter Murderer's Row!
At 177 Al Fricke pinned Joe Guido
At 190 Tim Thompson decisioned Bill Perkins
At HWT Greg Koontz pinned Stan Spencer
Fricke, Thompson, and Koont are thus labeled the name
Murder's Row for their physical beatings they administer to their
opponents.

Drummer John Bonham's
portrait concentrates on realism rather than fantasy. As his
drum solo of "Moby Dick"
echoes in the background we
see Bonham doing some of the
things he particularly enjoys.
He is shown working on his
farm with his wife and children
and racing automobiles.
Robert Plant's sequence,
which is done to "The Song

and fanciful as it is filled with
chivalry and beauty. Plant
makes the perfect knightly
romantic type of hero. He sets
off to seek his fortune only to
be confronted by self-doubt
and the elements of nature.
Jimmy Page's sequence is
one of the best. Set to an
extended but masterful performance of "Dazed and Confused" most of the scene takes
place on stage at the Garden.
Shifts in the pace of the song
are shown by photographic
tricks such as double images of
Page strutting around and his
furious fingerwork. The scene
then changes, repeating the
image from their Stairway to
Heaven album as Page is
shown searching for the truth
within himself. We see Page
making a desperate climb up a
steep mountain as he attempts
to reach the hooded Fathertime figure who represents
truth. Upon reaching the
hermit we see tha the figure is
Page himself, first as an old
man who slowly reverts to
Page as an infant. This starts
the cycle again as Page's
image progressively returns to
the old man figure.

The basic weakness of the
film was the failure to fulfill
one of it's main objectives and
that was to present Led
Zeppelin as people not just as
the kings of rock and roll
bands. Throughout the movie
we are given very small
glances into the private lives of
the most popular heavy-metal
band existing today. These
scenes consisted of each
member reacting at home with
his wife and children. They
were interesting because a
side of the group was
portrayed which most people
don't realize exists. The other
off-stage scenes however,
failed to bring about any real
significance. They tended to
be superficial, meaningless,
boring, and obnoxious.
