Each year a faculty mem-
ber from the Communication
Dept. assists in the produc-
tion of the annual spring mus-
ical. However, this year the
show will be conducted by
the students of SRSC, with
the exception of the lighting
design, which will be done by
Laurie Stepanian, a faculty
member of the Theatre Dept.

Cyndi Mazzant, an Ellwood
City, Pa. resident will direct
and choreograph the musical
Godspell. The senior Com-
munication Major, with an
emphasis in theatre, has di-
rected many of the produc-
tions put on at SRSC, in-
cluding "“Indian Wants The
Bronx,” "“Hopscotch,” and
"Winnie the Pooh.”” Mazzant
belongs to Dance Theatre,
where she has done some
choreographing, and is a
member of the Spirit.

Harvey Haddox., who will
portray Jesus in Godspell,

Beau Wilson, a transfer
student from the University of
Pittsburgh, will be making
his first debut by portraying
Judas in Godspell.

John the Baptist will be
portrayed by Bob O’Leary, a
resident from Slippery Rock.

The character of Mary
Magdelin will be played by
Wendy Weihe, a junior com-
munication major. Both
O'Leary and Weihe appeared
in “Fiddler On The Roof” and
"Oklahoma!”

Another person who de-
serves some credit, is Cyndi
Gatti. Gatti is the musical
and choral director. She is
also a member of the Butler
Little Theatre.

Godspell a story based on
the Gospel according to Mat-
thew, is not a regqular book
musical. The production con-
tains a large blend of songs
and dance, and has many
forms of theatrics, such as
pantomime, burlesque, and
vaudeville. Some of the more
popular songs are '"“Turn
Back O'Man" and "All Good
Gifts."”

The musical will be pre-
sented from April 27th thru
the 30th, starting at 8 p.m. at
Miller Auditorium.
