Bob Jones, a 1983 Slippery Rock State College (SRSC) graduate, designed the original Rocky the Rock mascot and portrayed it as a student and as an alumnus at Slippery Rock University events. Rocky made its debut in 1978, when Bob Jones was a freshman at SRSC.
The Green and White student handbook was published from 1927-2003 and then continued in a digital format until 2013. The handbook contained rules and regulations for students concerning dining, dorm life, smoking, dress codes, etc. The Green and White also contained helpful information about the college such as calendars for sports and other events, fees, hours of various campus offices, campus services available to students, and, of course, the Alma Mater.
Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania's Symposium for Research and Scholarship, now the Symposium for Student Research, Scholarship and Creative Achievement, was created in 2001 to celebrate and share the scholarly achievements of the university community. Launched by Dr. Patrick A. Burkhart, the symposium and it's Journal of Scholarly Endeavor were the result of a motion carried by the University Forum in May of 2000. The Journal of Scholarly Endeavor presents the abstracts of the annual Symposium, representing a broad collaboration of interests from across the institution. The journal was not published in 2021 or 2022.
