CU Cares BYLAWS ARTICLE 1. NAME The name of this organization shall be ‘CU Cares’ of Clarion University. ARTICLE 2. PURPOSE The primary purpose of this organization is to raise proceeds for nonprofit organizations. CU Cares is a great way to not only be involved in the community but help in a very hands on way. In addition the club will be attending events in the community as a way to stay involved in help in anyway we can. ARTICLE 3. MEMBERSHIP Section 1. CU Cares is open to any and all students with a drive to help the community. There is no class standing requirement. Although each member must obtain a 2.0 GPA. If a member must be excused from missing a meeting, an email should be sent to an executive board member prior to the meeting start time. To join the club, students can contact the executive board via CU Connect or email. Section 2. There is no membership fees Section 3. Committee member may be dismissed if they do not withhold a 2.0 GPA, skip 2 or more meetings without giving notice, and if a member causes disruption to club. ARTICLE 4. DUTIES AND ELECTIONS OF THE OFFICERS Section 1. President: The president will be responsible for managing the overall activities of the club. In addition, the president must overlook the coordination of events and fundraisers. Vice President: The vice president must assist the president with their duties and responsibilities. As well as assisting the president, the vice president will also be responsible for overseeing the committee members and their attendance. Treasurer: The treasurer will be responsible for handling finances for the club. One who withholds this positions will be required to handle and count money. The treasurer will need to be a responsible and trustworthy member of the club. Social Media Coordinator: Responsible for promoting the club and its events. The social media coordinator must use avenues of social media to spread the word about what the club is doing for each fundraiser. The social media coordinator will also make posts to promote the club in general and how other students can join or take part in the events. Secretary: The secretary is responsible for managing contact lists. Contacting organizations for a fundraiser or events. As well as organizing and maintaining records and/or paperwork. Section 2. The election process will be ran towards the end of each academic semester. The committee members will be required to meet with the current executive board in order to get elected. The board will vote on which members will withhold the positions for the following semester. Section 3. Each member must obtain 3 out of 4 votes from the executive board to obtain the desired position. ARTICLE 5. ROLE OF CAMPUS ADVISOR Section 1. The advisor will be selected by the executive board by voting. The chosen advisor is responsible for overseeing the club. Section 2. The advisor will not maintain much power over the club, they will share equal power with the president. ARTICLE 6. Section 1. Meetings will be held weekly. Section 2. The amount of members required to be at a meeting in order to make procedures offical is 75% of the total amount of members. Section 3. The statement of majority is similar to the state of quorum stated in section 2. All decisions made by vote must have 75% of members in order to be passed. Section 4. Each meeting will begin with taking attendance. The floor will then be opened for members to ask questions and state their ideas. Section 5. Special meetings will be necessary prior to a fundraiser or event. Special meetings date and time information will be given at least one week in advance. Special meetings will be called by the executive board unless other community members request one. ARTICLE 7. FINANCES AND FUNDING Section 1. There will not be any dues required for club members. Section 2. No funds will be requested from the student senate. Section 3. The club will have fundraising activities to raise proceeds needed for the club. ARTICLE 8. AMENDING, SUSPENDING, AND ACCEPTING Bylaws can be changed by voting of the executive board. Three of the four members of the board must vote to change the bylaws. ARTICLE 9. RATIFICATION These Bylaws, and it is amdements, shall become effective upon ratification by the members of CU Cares and following the approval of the Student Senate of Clarion University of Pennsylvania, the vice president for student & university affairs, and the president of Clarion University.
