Constitution/Bylaws Article 3: MEMBERSHIP Section 1:      Minimum of 2.7 GPA Must make at least one practice per week, (must attend 75% of practices total) No class standing or major restrictions Female only, must be a University student Must audition in front of Exec. Board Section 2:  5$ membership fees to cover the cost of music and other necessary expenses Section 3: DISMISSAL       3 Strike Policy: Absences, inability to pay fees, grades o At beginning of each semester, submit your grades to the academic chair (first semester freshman now included). If you fail to achieve a 2.7 in a semester, that will result in a strike and you will be put on probation for that semester. o If you fail Probation: Having one of three strikes; member may still attend practices, but may not perform until the semester following and issue is resolved Suspension: Having two of three strikes Failing to comply with all three will result in immediate dismissal. Once dismissed, you may not rejoin. All performances are mandatory, unless unplanned. Allowed to miss scheduled performances with a valid excuse. Valid excuses include: personal emergency, illness, class, work. Failure to attend performances without valid excuse will lead to dismissal Article 4: DUTIES AND ELECTIONS OF THE OFFICERS Section 1: Officers       President: Connects with community Vice President: Assists President with duties Treasurer: Manages money Secretary: Minutes, attendance Academic Chair: Manages grades, oversees members on probation/suspension Social Chair: Social media connections, plan social events with other campus organizations Section 2: Elections:    Occur at end of each spring semester All members vote, majority wins Must be a member for one year in order to run and must give brief speech prior to being nominated Article 5: ROLE OF CAMPUS ADVISOR       Sought out by members of group Assists us in music process, finds music for us, teaches, and observes and directs group as a whole Looks over group, looks over auditions Gives suggestions, but group ultimately makes decision Should conduct sessions Has musical experience/training Article 6: MEETINGS       28 meetings a semester, 2 per week All executive board must be present in order to make a decision, 80% of group also needs to be there When a vote is taken, if more than half of the group votes for it, majority rules and motion will be made. Basic parliamentary procedures Any member can call a meeting; 12 hours notice must be given prior to meeting No vote required; can be notified of special meeting by email Article 7: FINANCES AND FUNDING   5$ dues, funds may be requested in event of reaching competitive status Until we reach a time where we reach competitive status, we will fund individually Article 8: AMENDING, SUSPENDING, AND ACCEPTING   2/3 of a vote is needed in order to change the bylaws Bylaws will not be changed unless the majority feels the need to amend a law Article 9: RATIFICATION These Bylaws, and its amendments, shall become effective upon ratification by the members of CUP-ellas and following the approval of the Student Senate of Clarion University of Pennsylvania, the vice president for student & university affairs, and the president of Clarion University.
