Clarion University Eagles Nest Constitution Article I – Name The name or this organization shall be The Eagles Nest of Clarion University. Article II – Purpose The “Eagles Nest” campus spirit group will be comprised of students from Clarion University. Its goal is to promote student participation, spirit, and a positive game environment at home athletic events. Its mission is to promote pride at Golden Eagle athletics by creating an exciting atmosphere and imposing home field advantage, while reflecting the values of being a Division II and I institution. Its purpose is to be loud; and a loud student spirit section can influence a game in many ways. The Eagles Nest plans to be a large group of visible, die-hard Golden Eagle fans that receive the most desired section of seats at home athletic events. To create this environment that is both loud and unified, we will require the Eagles Nest members to wear their Eagles Nest t-shirts while at games or have chest/face painted. Article III – Membership Section 1 -- The qualifications to be a member of The Eagles Nest will be that the member is a currently enrolled student of Clarion University. There will be bi-weekly meeting in the fall and monthly meetings in the spring. A student can talk to the Executive Committee or Advisor about membership. Section 2 – There will be no membership fee for this organization. Section 3 – Dismissal from the organization: removal by University officials at an athletic event, intoxicated at athletic event/causing problems etc. Article IV – Duties and elections of officers Section 1 – Officers and descriptions President – The president will act as chairperson of the executive board. The will preside at all meetings of The Eagles Nest. The president will maintain power to appoint all committee chairpersons and shall present all motions to the acting body. Vice President – The Vice President’s duties shall be to preside at all meetings and functions that the President is not present. The vice president will also take over the position of president if needed. Secretary – The secretary will be responsible for the documentation of minutes at meetings. The secretary will be in charge of roll call at meetings and also be in charge of communication between members. Treasurer – The treasurer will be responsible for all financial affairs regarding the organization. Section 2 – Election process All officers shall be elected by a majority vote of eligible voting members of The Eagles Nest. Elections will take place at the last meeting of the spring semester. The President will take nominations from the floor, the nomination process must be closed and the movement seconded. The nominated parties will be allowed to vote. Section 3 – Majority vote There will be a simple majority to assure a fair election. Article V – Role of campus advisor Section 1 – The advisor will be selected by the organization. The advisors job will be to offer guidance, assistance and advise pertaining to the operations of the organization. Section 2 – The power the advisor has is limited to the guidance, assistance and advising pertaining to the operations of the organization. The advisor will also have to power to dismiss any individual from the group on grounds stated in Article 3 Section3. Article VI – Meetings Section 1 – Meetings will be held bi-weekly starting the first week of class during the fall semester. During the spring semester we will have monthly meetings starting the first week of the spring semester. Section 2 – A quorum will consist of the Executive Committee and 10 members of the organization. Section 3 – A simple majority will be in effect. Section 4 – Robert’s Rules will be the procedure to conduct a meeting. Section 5 – The Advisor, President or Vice President will call a special meeting. There will be at least two days notice for this special meeting and will not require a vote to call the special meeting. The members will be notified via email or test message. Article VII – Finances and Funding Section 1 – The will be no dues. Section 2 – We will request funds from Student Senate. Section 3 – The organization will be self-supporting by having fund-raising activities. Article VIII – Amending, Suspending, and Accepting The constitution is binding to all members of The Eagles Nest but the constitution is not binding unto itself. Amendments to the constitution may be proposed in writing by any voting member of The Eagles Nest at any meeting at which 2/3 of the voting members is present. These amendments will be placed on the agenda for the next regular meeting of the executive committee or other officer grouping. Proposed amendments will become effective following approval of two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of active members. Article IX – Ratification These bylaws, and its amendments, shall be effective upon ratification by the members of The Eagles Nest and following the approval of the Student Senate of Clarion University.
