TRACK OUTLOOK 1965
With eighteen lettermen returning from last
year's team, the prospects for a successful season
is rather bright. Missin~ from this year's team
will be Gary Edwards, holder of the School
Discus and four-tim e State Champion in that
event, \.vho also captured two State crowns in
the Shot-Put. However, Edwards is the only
major loss from a team that won seven of their
eight dual meets, an<l placed third behind Slippery Rock and ,i\Test Chester in the State College
Meet.
Heading the returning lettermen is Jan
Prosseda, the outstanding distance runner of
the State College Conference. Prosseda is the
defending State Champion in the mile and two
mile. He holds the school mile and two mile
records as well as the State record in the latter
event. In addition, Prosseda is also the 1964
State Co11ege Cross-Country Champion. To add
a bit of depth to the distance events Irwin
Zablocky, a vastly improved Junior, who finished
fourth in the two mile in last year's State Meet.
Robert Herzig, a three year letterman, and
second to Prosseda in point scoring for BSC in
1964, returns in the iumping events. Herzig,
who was also outstanding for BSC in basketball,
holds the school record for the triple iump, an
event in which he placed second in last year's
State Meet.
Other returning lettermen who will figure
prominently on this year's team are: John Zarski,
3rd place in the shot-put in last year's State
Meet; Ken Cromwell, shot-put; Tom Fowels,
discus and shot; Jim Shymansky and Charles
Wayes, pole vault; Gene Shershen, javelin; Jim
Young and Paul Clemm, hurdles; Joe Figliolino
and Jim Derr, sprints; Otis Johnson and Tom
Switzer, jumping events; Wayne Thomas, Jim
Reifinger and Fred Rapp, middle distance
runners.

HEAD TRACK COACH
GEORGE WILWOHL
George Wilwohl ioined the Physical Education Department of Bloomsburg State College in
the early part of 1963. In addition to being his
second year as Hrnd Track Coach, he has been
an Assistant Football Coach for the past two
seasons, this past year being particularly charged
,vii:h the Freshman Football Program.
A native of Pittsburgh, Wilwohl graduated
from North Catholic High School and earned
his Bachelor of Science degree in Health Education at Slippery Rock State College prior to
serving two years in the United States Navy.
He was an outstanding athlete at both North
Catholic and Slippery Rock, where he served as
captain of the Rockets and was voted on the
All-Teachers College 1952 Team.
Whi]e teaching in the Pittsburgh Area
Schools, he became an outstanding official in
football and basketball in Western Pennsylvania.
Due to his all-around athletic ability, he is a
natural to coach young men both on the gridiron and on the track field.
