John Jones, last year's B.S.C. freshman tennis coach, will take over the reins as head coach this year. Two months of early indoor practice and an optimistic outlook by each team member should provide the impetus necessary for the Husky netmen to be classified as the "Dark Horse" among the competing Pennsylvania State College teams. Returning veterans include Seniors-Franklin Rishel, William Gering, Mike Mellinger; Juniors-Ed Dietrich, Jeff Snyder, Robert Zalonis. Promising Sophomores include Ronald Dietrich, Jeff Miller, Dale Houk, Gerald Fulmer, Dennis Crim. All of the seniors have been working extremely hard to improve their play over last year. Rishel is the top contender for the No. 1 position. Mellinger developed extensively towards the end of last season and is now playing a much steadier game. Zalonis has real potential and could develop into the best tennis player that a Maroon and Gold squad has had in recent years. Southpaw Gering has developed some new strokes that have added variety and depth to his game. Snyder and Ed Dietrich have been working extremely hard in preparing to break into the starting lineup. Rishel and Dietrich will cocaptain the '67 Husky netmen. Ron Dietrick appears to be the outstanding prospect among the sophomore candidates. Coach Jones has indicated it is too early to det,e rmine the full potential of the untried sophomores. With the vast construction taking place on campus, the tennis courts have been temporarily eliminat,ed, and the Huskies will have to do their practicing and playing on the Bloomsburg town courts and those of the Bloomsburg Tennis Club. Even under such unfortunate circumstances for practicing, there seems to be a new air of confidence and ,eagerness in the team which points to improving last year's record of 3 wins and 6 losses. There are several outstanding Freshmen working out and a 6-game schedule has been set for the frosh racketmen. In addition to the regular Pennsylvania State College competition, there will be three newcomers to the varsity schedule this year-Mansfield State College, Cheyney State College, and Susquehanna University.
