Coach Craig Himes returns at the helm of the BSC golfing fortunes after a year of sabbatical leave. George Miller, Ray Hebert, and Phil Haile, all starters from last year's team, Three returning lettermen, have graduated. plus an outstanding transfer golfer, will be on hand to boost the Husky hopes of having one of the best teams in recent years. The returning veterans, all seniors who shoot in the 70' s, are Bill Bloom, John Kwasnoski, and Jack Vasil. Another shot in the arm for Coach Himes is a long-ball hitter, Alan Beily, who is a transfer from Duke University. Beily, due to his power and fine swing should develop into one of the better golfers in the Pennsylvania Sttae College Conference. Two other seniors, who participated in some of last year's matches, and are now vying for positions are Rick Heller and Mike Heitz. Jim Masich and Terry Walters, who come from we11-known golfing families, are two outstanding sophomore prospects along with Paul Fowler and Bill Zeares. In addition to the regular opponents of Shippensburg, East Stroudsburg, Mansfield, Lycoming and Kings, Kutztown has been scheduled to replace Lock Haven; the latter has discontinued golf. Susquehanna University, a newcomer to the schedule, should provide a good test for the Maroon and Gold stickmen. Last year's team had a 3-5 record and finished seventh in the Pennsylvania State College tournament. The chances of this year's team improving over last year's record are excellent. There are several outstanding freshmen candidates who, due to the freshman rule, will have to wait a year for varsity competition. Several practice matches will be scheduled for the freshmen.
