A win over D’Youville would have the Boro halfway there. Edinboro has dis posed of its first three opponents in impressive fashion, outscoring the opposition by an average of 22 points per game. In addition, the Scots are forcing 26.0 turnovers per contest and limiting opponents to 35.1 percent shooting from the floor... the inside game has been extremely Impressive in the early going, with junior Marin Hightower leading the way. The 6’1” junior is averaging 20.3 points and 10.3 rebounds while shooting 68.3 percent from the floor. After scoring a career-high 21 points vs. Bloomsburg, Hightower bettered that the next day with 22 points and a career-high 18 boards vs. Mercyhurst... senior Kelli Torboli, a transfer from California(Pa.), leads the Boro off the glass with 12.3 per game, in addition to scoring at a 11.0 clip. The 6’0” center pulled down 17 rebounds vs. Bloomsburg. She has also blocked 6 shots ... junior Dana Polakowski, another transfer from UNC-Asheville, rounds out the frontline, averaging 8.0 ppg. and 4.7 rpg... in addition to a dominating frontcourt, the Boro features an imposing backcourt in the tandem of Meghan Miller and Jessica Rowe. Miller, a 5’7” senior. Is a two-time All-PSAC West selection. She already holds school records for career three-pointers made (179) and attempted (480). With a team-high 18 assists, she has moved into fifth position in career assists with 358. Miller is averaging 9.0 ppg. The 5’8” Rowe led the Scots in scoring last year at 15.3 ppg. She is presently at 10.0 ppg. along with 10 assists. That gives her 235 career assists, needing five to pass Sarah Bishop for tenth place. Miller stands tenth In career scoring with 1,181 points, while Rowe is approaching 1,000 markers, currently 19th with 898 points ... the bench has been extremely productive, led by sophomore Kim Vay, another former Vulcan. The 5’10” forward is averaging 13.0 ppg. and 6.3 rpg. while shooting 60.0 percent from the floor. Freshman swingman Korie Morton adds 7.7 ppg. and 4.4 rpg., with sophomore guard Julie McNees showing 4.0 ppg. SCOUTING THE LADY SPARTANS: Second-year coach Ken Kubler has a young squad, with nine freshmen and just one senior. Kubler will likely start four of the freshmen. The most impressive Lady Spartan to date has been center Carrie Stevens, a 6’0 first-year performer who is averaging 16.0 ppg. and 10.3 rpg., along with 10 blocked shots ... fellow freshman Caitlin Uriacher, a 5’H” fonvard, adds 6.7 ppg. and 6.7 rpg... a third freshman, Abby Eastman, joiris Stevens and Uriacher up front. The 5’2” point guard shows averages of 4.5 ppg. and 5.0 rpg... the availability of guard Mary Legnard is doubtful due to a sprained ankle. The 5’8” freshman would be a big boost for D’Youville. She deposited 21 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in that game. Legnard also made 3 of 6 three-pointers.
