Women s Basketball 2001-02 The Rock (13-11,6-4) vs. Edinboro (11-13,3-7) Morrow Field House/Slippery Rock, Pa. Wednesday, February 20,2002 GAME NOTES: Heaping praise: Rock senior co-captains Jackie Altenweg and Shelbey Wardman both received honorable mention for PS AC-West player of the week. The Rock split a pair of decisions, defeating Clarion and falling to PittJohnstown. Altenweg averaged 22.0 ppg and 4.5 rpg while Wardman averaged 21.5 ppg and 5.0 rpg for the week. 1-2 punch; Altenweg and Wardman have climbed into the uj^r echelon of The Rock’s career scoring chart this season. As this chart shows, Wardman and Altenweg currently rank fourth and fifth, respec tively. Payback time: The Rock seeks to repay Edinboro for the 89-75 loss suffered earlier this season. Freshman forward Stacey Green’s 17 points and 17 rebounds and freshman guard Nicol Ellis’ 19 points off the bench were not enough. The Rock defense looks to step it up against Megan 21itner and Krystal Henson, who both scored 24 points in the previous meeting. Playoff implications: The Rock is currently sitting in third place in the PSAC-West division. It is still possible to win a share of the regular season crown if The Rock would win its final two games and California would lose its final two. Boro bombers: Edinboro boasts the top three-point shooter (3.38/ game) in the PSAC in Krystal Henson. Henson (15.6 ppg), Megan Zitner (10.5 I^g), and Lachelle Crawl (10.0 ppg) each average in double figures. Point guard Courtney Thompson boasts the best assist-to-tumover ratio in the PSAC at 3.37. Conference nlav; Jackie Altenweg has been lighting it up in conference play this season with a 21.0 ppg average and also three games of 30 or more points. Junior point guard Missy McKavish has also seen her productivity increase in conference play. She is averaging 10.8 ppg, 4.9 rpg, and 4.2 apg in PSAC-West games.
