Only one player from last year's squad has been lost through graduation. Coach Eli McLaughlin will have eleven varsity members returning and fourteen sophomores up from the freshman team, in addition to eleven other upper classmen battling for team positions. Leading the pitching staff will be two solid performers, Bob Gibble and Joe Walton, both of whom were regulars on the mound last year. Other hopeful hurlers include Lamar Beinhower, Steve Klinger, Dave Gay, Wally Smith, Bob Rupp, Stan Swist, and Tom Matthews. The catching chores will be handled by Ben Pollock, Jim Wysor, Roy Underhill, Marvin Serhan, and Dick Fisher. Hustling for infield positions will be Jerry Devlin, Gene Gruber, Frank Mastroianni, Jim Rupert, Dennis Weis, John Wolk, Tom Wenner, Frank Callahan, Lanny Diltz, Harold Albertson, and Ron Magargle. The outfield positions are open to Pat Colgan, Jack Hollis, Greg Kanaskie, Ron Reitz, Mark Ferraro, Eric Landers, Tom Matthews, Don Deitterick, Rick Camuso, and Rick Bush. With McLaughlin being tied up in swimming until the middle of March, the squad has had to work out early on its own. This, however, has not affected the eagerness and enthusiasm which should prove to be a significant factor in the outcome of the season. There are indications that this team will make every effort to equal the achievements of the B.S.C. 1965 PSCAC championship team. During the '65 season he helped produce a Pennsylvania State College championship team which won the District 19 NAIA championship and competed in the Area 8 NAIA championship competition. In addition to coaching baseball, he has served seven years as head swimming coach. His tankmen have had winning seasons for the past two years. His team just completed the season posting nine victories against two losses and :6nishing second in the PSCAC meet. McLaughlin, a member of the Health and Physical Education department, previously served three years as football line coach. A native of Valley Forge, McLaughlin received his B. S. and M. Ed. degrees from West Chester State College. Prior to joining the B. S. C. faculty and coaching staff in September, 1961, he taught and coached at Penncrest High School. In addition to playing high school baseball, McLaughlin played with teams of the U. S. Air Force and with several semi-pro teams. [n 1952, he had an opportunity to try-out with Cincinnati at Charleston, South Carolina, but due to personal conflicts, had to reject the offer. He believes that in order to be a successful coach, one must have a good philosophy, be a good organizer, and be a good teacher. BASEBALL SCHEDULE April 18--Kutztown F and V ..............
