Coach Charles Chronister, who has a record of 146-80 at Bloomsburg , will be seeking his tenth straight winning season at SSC and the school 's 15th in a row. This feat may be difficult as one of the most formidable schedules in SSC history awaits the Huskies. Mike Wenrich , who set the freshman scoring record last season, leads the list of returnees. The 6-5, 195 lb. sophomore scored 443 points breaking BSC all-time leading scorer Jerry Radocha's mark of 282 points. As a forward , Wenrich led the team in scoring with an average of 16.4 points per game and also gathered in 197 rebounds to lead the squad averaging 7.3 a game. He was a Pennsylvania Conference eastern division second team selection. Chronister will be looking forward to using the services of standout transfer Ken Casey at the center position . Casey, who sat out last season after transferring from King's College had two fine seasons for the Monarchs before leaving. In his freshman year he averaged 15.6 points and 11 .0 rebounds per game. His first year was highlighted by good performances against Division I opponents Rhode Island and Holy Cross where he scored 18 and 22 points. During his sophomore year he averaged 19.2 points a game and 14.0 rebounds to help lead the Monarchs to an 18-8 record . Others vying for the starting forward positions are: senior tri-captain Bill Tillman , juniors Brad Weber and Ron Zynel , sophomore Randy Colone, and freshman Tom Mason. Tillman, 6-5, 180, played in 24 games in the 1979-80 season averaging 11.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. He was a sporadic starter in his freshman season , but has been in the starting lineup on a full-time basis since then . Weber, 6-5, 210, was the second leading rebounder on last season 's squad averaging six a game. He also averaged 7.4 points a game in 26 contests and led the Huskies in field goal percentage hitting on a commendable 53.9% of his shots. Zynel played in 15 games averaging 3.4 points a game while Colone saw action in 13 contests and averaged just .9 points per game. A product of Neshaminy-Langhorne High School, Mason was a walk-on who made this year's squad. The 6-4, 180 lb. performer set his high school 's assist record at a forward position last season . The most depth on the team is at the guard position. Ballhandlers Jon Bardsley and Terry Conrad are back along with senior tri-captains Dave Ogden and Dave Kiersnowski, as well as newcomer Barry Francisco. Bardsley, 5-10, 150, scored an average of 10.5 points a game while playing the point and doing the bulk of the ballhandling chores. The junior led BSC in assists with 151 in all 27 games last year. Conrad, 5-10, 165, only became a starter in the second half of the 1979-80 campaign but also performed in all 27 contests averaging 10.4 points. Ogden also performed in every game last season averaging 6.6 points a game. He was a Pennsylvania Conference eastern division Honorable Mention choice a year ago. Ogden , 6-3, 165, also led the team in free throw percentage sinking 85.4 % of his charity tosses. Kiersnowski, 6-3, 180, performed in 16 contests and hit 50 % of his shots while averaging 2.0 points a game. Francisco, 6-2, 165, gained All-State recognition in 1979-80 and helped lead the Grenadiers of G.A.R. High School into the PIAA state playoffs where they lost to eventual state champ Susquehanna Township by just four points. Two third-year centers will be delegated to reserve duty by the addition of Casey. Doug Greenholt and Ed Nichols, who averaged 5.0 and 1.6 points per game respectively and pulled down a combined 103 rebounds, will supply depth in the middle when needed.
