In several cases, there was a shifting of a common boundary of two adjoining counties. Such chanc es, or some of them, are indicated beloi• • Schuylkill County was formed out of parts of Berks and Northampton Counties in 1811. Some parts of Columbia County were added in 1818. Lycoming County was erected out of Northumberland County, April 13, 1795. Columbia County was erected out of Northumberland County, March 22, 1813. It included a western part, which later became Montour. The western boundary, first of Columbia, then of Montour, with Northumberland, was shifted several times. Montour County was erected out of the western part of Colµmbia, May 3, 1850. Sullivan County was erected out of parts of Bradford and Wyoming Counties, March 15, 1347. COLUMBIA COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Almedia - Established on October 16, 1889, with Charles M. Crevelitl8 appointed as its first postmaster. Office was discontinued on February 28, 1934. Aristes - Established on August 6, 1897, with Charles Maso appointed as its first postmaster. Office is still existing. Asburz • Established as Runyan on January 8, 1886, with Cyrus Robbins appointed as its first postmaster. Name was changed to Asbury on October 7, 1889. Office was discontinued on October 31, 1905. B~argae_ - Dates this office was temporarily located in Columbia County are not given. It is shown mainly as a post office in Northumberland County. ~ear Run - See Mordansville. ~~aver Valley - Established on May 23, 1832, with Adam Michael appointed as its first postmaster. Office was discontinued on January 4, 1844, reestablished on September 7, 1844, discontinued on November 17, 1851, reestablished on December 13, 1853, and discontinued on October 15 1 1919. Bendertown - Established on June 9, 1893, with George D. Yost appointed as its first postmaster. Office discontinued on 0ctobe~ 14, 1905. Benton• Established on April 25, 1835, with Daniel Hartman appointed as its first postmaster. Office is still existing. ~rwick - Established on October 30, 1800, with William Bry8'1 appointed as its first postmaster.
